+1 yI think it's a show for people who have a sarcastic or dry sense of humour.
The characters are meant to be so extreme that it's funny. Like how Kelly Kapoor is supposed to be so obsessed with celebrities and Ryan, that there's nothing else to her.
They're all one dimensional characters.
Meredith will always be drunk and slutty, Kevin will always be dumb, Stanley will always be annoyed and wanting to leave, Michael will always have delusions of grandeur and struggle to have friends, Dwight will always be a guy with the mentality of a teenager obsessed with martial arts and weapons.
Jim and Pam are meant to be the normal ones reacting to the characters around them.
At it's core the Office is just a love story that goes on forever.
It's popular because the episodes were well written, is funny and it kind of takes you into the world of Dunder Mifflin.156 Reply- +1 y
Yea its full of dry humor and sarcasm and stereotypes. I prefer light hearted humor and lots of goofy corniness. But not cringe. I haven't seen the well written part but i dont think i’ll stick around to. Thank you for the description
- +1 y
No problem.
I find with the office people either love it and are completely addicted to it, or they just don't get anything out of it. It strikes a chord with certain types.
There's big fan groups that still watch that series over and over, they quote every line.
I understand the Office, but I don't get why people obsess about Star Wars and stuff like that.
I tried to watch Star Wars and I always fall asleep before anything happens. 😅
To each their own.
- +1 y
Like i said, i like the office but not michael. And yes star wars bores tf outta me. The Solo films and Mandalorian look interesting but i can't get past the old films to get to it
- +1 y
Thanks for mho.
- +1 y
Im on season 4. Season 3 was definitely more tolerable
- +1 y
Oh cool, yeah there's some funny stuff coming, I think season 6 was funny too.
You may find later on in the series it kinda gets worse because there was so many seasons, and a few cast changes. Just depends what you like.
I hope you enjoy the Office and get a few laughs out of it. 🙂 - +1 y
I'm curious to know what you thought about Jim and Karen together?
I think originally I was rooting for their relationship, because Pam was kinda back and forth with Roy and couldn't make up her mind. - +1 y
I definitely wanted more Jim and Karen. It was like dating a better Pam tbh
- +1 y
See that's why we're twins. 👍
When I used to go on The Office fan pages people would get so mad that I liked Jim and Karen together. 😅 - +1 y
Fun fact, Rashida Jones (Karen) and John Krasinski (Jim) actually dated in real life for a bit before she was on The Office. That's probably why they seemed very natural together.
She was quite sad when her character was written out of the storyline. - +1 y
Oh wow. And Omgeeee jim proposed in the rain at a gas station 😍 its oddly romantic because it was so unexpected
- +1 y
Yeah, I liked the fake proposal the best.
The time when they were walking and he bent down to tie his shoe or something and she thought he was proposing, but he was just messing with her. LoL!
I think that was on the Office. 🤔
I have a weird fascination with Kelly and Ryan's messed up relationship most of the time, I always wanted to see more of those two.
Another weird fact- Kelly (Mindy Kaling) and Ryan (DJ Novack) don't just play crazy Kelly and Ryan, they're actually two of the main writers and producers of the Office. They're responsible for writing a lot of episodes, they're awesome!! - +1 y
*BJ Novak, sorry.
- +1 y
Rashida Jones is one of the sexiest women alive on Planet Earth.
- +1 y
Yea i didn't like the fake proposal because if it was real, she was constantly expecting it. I found Ryan cute the first two seasons but i disliked him season 3+. he's really mean to her and should just let her know he's not interested longterm. I heard they dated irl for a while as well. My fave couple is dwight and Angela but on this season she's cheating on andy with dwight. I dont like the cheating
- +1 y
Yeah Angela gets to be quite a bitch for a while. LoL!
Andy is weird and his character kinda gets more and more annoying throughout the series.
Yeah it's weird because it's Mindy Kaling and BJ Novak writing the relationship between Kelly and Ryan.
They also purposely put Kelly and Ryans desks out of sight from the main office so that, they could leave and be writing more episodes while they were shooting all the Jim and Pam, Dwight, Michael stuff. Sorry I don't wanna give you too much background info and ruin the experience.
It's just that I've watched all the seasons with the commentary from the cast, and all the extra features etc. I know too much about the Office. 😅 - +1 y
@Jamie05rhs
I agree, I was kinda crushing on her for a while too. 👌 - +1 y
Oh I forgot to mention that the guy who plays Toby (The HR guy that Michael hates), is also an executive producer and writer of the Office. So it's weird that some of these quirky background characters on the Office are actually doing a lot and creating the show.
- +1 y
Wow i kept wondering why they hardly showed those two. Tbh, kelly is the most annoying in the office so not seeing her didn't bother me lmao. I just dont get how people hate dwight. he's my fave. Angela and Ryan are mean. Michael still says dumbshit but when he's not, he and andy bring the comedy. Kevin just creeps me out. Toby is so fckin dull i want to cry when i see his scenes. Stanleys laugh is the only thing i like about him. Otherwise he's mean too. Jims facial expressions are the only thing i like about him. Pam is relatable with her relationships but she's so dry it hurts. Holly is amazing. Thank goodness Jan hardly gets screentime. Meredith has her funny moments. I just feel bad for phyllis lmao. People are mean to her for no reason. Whats the guys name who works un the basement with Roy. he's from Hot Tub Time Machine and he's kinda funny. Lmao im 5 seasons in and still struggle to remember these peoples names. I’ll likely never rewatch the show once i finish the series but like i said season 2 or 3 is worth buying to add to my dvd collecton
- +1 y
And actually Mose too, Dwight's strange relative that lives at Shrute farms with him.
I think he's one of the main writers.
Okay, I'll shut up now. 😅 - +1 y
Lmao damn you reply too quick. Did u even read what i wrote yet 😂
- +1 y
Oh you mean Darryl? Yeah he's funny especially when Michael's always trying to use the equipment in the shop and he's not allowed to, he always makes a mess and he's a pain in Darryl's ass. LoL!
Yeah Jan is crazy, their relationship is funny.
Holly is a much better fit for Michael. Do you remember a blonde named Carol that Michael dated fot a bit? I think she dumped him because he was photoshoping himself into her family photos with her kids.
Anyways, the actess who played Carol is Michael's (Steve Carell's) wife in real life.
Just another fun fact. 🙂 - +1 y
Wooooow can't believe Carol is his real wife! The whole show i kept sayin wow how did he pull her. he's lucky irl then haha. I was just saying yesterday i wish he and Carol got bacj together but then holly came along. Im on the episode rn where Jan just had the baby and michaels holding it up like simba lmao. I wouldve beat his ass if he dropped my kid 🤣 Also? I always forget Oscar. he's hardly on the show
- +1 y
There's so many characters, Oscar is one of the more normal of the quirky ones.
I used to get a kick out of Meredith, and her not wearing underwear to casual Fridays, or taking off her top and exposing herself to Michael at the Office party. She's a wild one. 😅
Phyllis takes a lot of crap from Michael and Dwight.
Yes, Michael was trying to be the father of that baby for a while even though he wasn't.
Steve Carell is respected for the Office because he had to play such an obnoxious, pathetic, self-obsorbed character, but in real life he seems very normal. I think a lot of people feel he's very talented, especially paired up with Rainn Wilson (Dwight). They're quite the comedy duo. - +1 y
I like Steves movies but i still wouldve respected him more if he wouldve fought against the stereotypical script of the first two seasons of this show. It was so cringey that the writers shouldve been cussed out. And i lost respect for him for playing the roll. Money is not everything
- +1 y
@Dexter_Morgan42 More than "kinda" right here. Lol
- +1 y
Kelly was hot, too, though.
- +1 y
Yeah he plays a very polarizing character.
I hear what you're saying, and there's definitely times where it can be cringy. I'm embarrassed for michael at times. The Office is such a weird dynamic that I wonder if he isn't meant to be a useless jackass, so that other characters like Jim, Pam, Stanley, Darryl etc. can be more lovable and relatable. They're the heroes of the show basically, you know what I mean? It's like how most people hate their boss in real life and it gets to a point where the underlings are basically doing everything.
The Office is just an exaggeration of that. Luckily Steve is creative enough that Michael manages to get laughs despite constantly being the butt of the jokes.
Who would think a sitcom could be so complicated, huh?
I do think The Office is one of the best comedic shows ever made, but I really don't watch it anymore because the characters are very one dimensional, exaggerated, and even idealistc in the case of Jim and Pam. It's a funny show, but not to taken too seriously.
There's seriously people on those facebook fan sites who don't understand that Jim and Pam don't exist. 😅
They make posts talking about how they want to find their Jim, they want a love like Jim and Pam, they get sad if anyone doesn't like them. They need to understand that those are all actors, and they're all married to other people. Some of them have kids and are nothing like the characters.
The Office is just a fantasy. - +1 y
@DizzyDesii Darryl is the dude from the Dodge Dart commercials.
- +1 y
@Dexter_Morgan42 Jim and Pam's relationship is what all single people who work in an office WISH we could have happen to us. That's why we love them.
- +1 y
@Jamie05rhs
Yeah it's sweet, it reminds me of flirting with girls back when I was in highschool.
We were always stuck in class together making sarcastic comments to each other about the teacher.
As for the Office, I was always crushing on Karen Filippelli like you, and I wanted to Bang Kelly Kapoor to be honest. LoL! - +1 y
I admire dwight and angelas relationship more than jim and pam. I only like jim and pams subtle flirting but i like how angela and dwight hide their relationship to avoid everyone being in their biz. I sympathize with michael on the looking for love and wantinng to be a parent but i just dont like his racial stereotypes is what im referring to. But yea i definitely wouldn't want to be in a jim/pam relationship. They were boring together. The chase was more entertaining to watch. Dwight and angela are fun together
- +1 y
Oh like when he does impressions? Yeah they purposely make him somewhat racist, but too stupid to know he's racist. Like when he impersonated Chris Rock and uses the N word or something when they're having a meeting about what's appropriate in the office.
Same with how they make him overly sexist and inappropriate when there's a meeting about sexual harassment. I see what you're saying, the writers did push the envelope to make him ridiculous and offensive.
As for Jim and Pam, people seem to forget that she was always in a relationship, and also flirting with Jim EVERY day at work. In reality it's a long show about emotional cheating. LoL!
Their relationship wasn't quite as innocent as the fans think.
Dwight and Angela are crazy to me. 😂
- +1 y
Yea dwight and angela are crazy vut i love it. Im just glad its not toxic like jan and michael. And wow he said the N word? Yea thats gonna bother me. I haven't seen that episode yet. Yea i said early on that Jim and Pam were emotionally cheating when she was with roy and again when he was with karen. Might be why i lost respect for em by time they became and actual couple. But i still enjoyed his proposal
- +1 y
@Dexter_Morgan42 Oh, snap; you're right. I forgot about that.
However, I kinda feel like Roy is the placeholder dude that shy and introverted chicks start dating just so they can say they have a boyfriend and are in a relationship. In other words, Roy was just the first dude that asked her out. Jim is the one that she actually loved. - +1 y
Yeah I think he does some stupid impression of Chris Rock's comedy special because he's in a course about racial sensitivity that I think Larry Wilmore was conducting.
Larry Wilmore is a Black man who was also a writer on the show at that time.
They probably felt they could be more offensive because the scene was possibly written by Larry Wilmore and it involved him? Just a theory, but yeah, they wanted Michael to be ridiculously offensive and ridiculously stupid. They probably could've skipped some of the racial stereotypes in that series, I don't think it added that much to the show. Obviously it can be offensive even if it was meant to show Michael as an idiot. - +1 y
I think the N word is beeped out, but he impersonated part of a comedy routine because he felt he could do it better or something?
- +1 y
The whole cast looks uncomfortable during michaels stereotypical scenes. So yea i dont think it added anything to the show no matter if someone black wrote it or not. As for Roy, i like him but not in season 1 and 2. He paid her no attention. He was better in season 3 but he has anger issues so i definitely dont see him as the innocent sweet guy Jamie. Roy wouldve been fitting for Angela had she not been dating Andy or Dwight.
- +1 y
@DizzyDesii I never said he was innocent or sweet.
- +1 y
There's more to Roy's story in the end, but I don't want to spoil anything.
There's all kinds of crazy stuff to come in future seasons for you. 🙂 - +1 y
@Jamie05rhs yea i just realized you called the girls shy and introverted. I first read it assuming you called Roy that
- +1 y
Ohh. No. Yeah, I was talking about the girl.
- +1 y
Omg this episode on tv where they all dress for Halloween is a trip. Kevin, Dwight and Creed all dressed like the joker but Creed killed it compared to the other two
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7IOuiHwgCXw - +1 y
Yeah, Creed was a bit if a loner, he never knew anybody's name either LoL!
I think I liked the Christmas one where Karen and Pam were planning a separate party from Angela and they had two separate parties. - +1 y
What season is that? The cable tv guide makes me mad because each season skips 2-3 episodes. Like it skipped season 5 ep 5 where michael and holly first go out, so im starting at ep 6 the Halloween ep and hollys being transferred. Like wtf
- +1 y
Oh no, that sucks!! I had the entire series on dvd from Walmart, the box set.
That's where I could see every episode, and all the commentary and bloopers and stuff.
I traded it to my sister for the whole series of Dexter so I don't have it anymore. That Christmas one must've been while Karen was still there though. Sorry to hear that you're missing episodes. 😔
- +1 y
Im not sorry lol. Bt i think i did see it. Was it where Phyllis knocked angelas stuff off the desk
- +1 y
I'm not sure. I do remember the scene you're talking about, but which episode I can't remember.
In the Christmas one I'm referring to it's where Pam and Karen first start to get along.
Karen got bullied in Angela's party planning meeting, so Pam decided to console her, and they joined forces against Angela. I think it might have been the one where Michael brought the 2 Asian waitresses back and he couldn't remember which one he was into because they look the same (Another racist stereotype that probably could've been left out). - +1 y
Oh no i haven't seen that episode then. But omg rn im watching the episode where dwight starts a fire for them to do a drill and omg its the funniest crap ever with how they’re reacting. Angelas trying to save her cat. Oscar is crawling through the ceiling. Kevin is raiding the vending machine. Stanley ispassed out. Jim is slick leaving behind pam but luckily she kept up behind him.
- +1 y
Now you're starting to see why people like that show huh? 😅
Most people who don't like it think it was just some boring show about boring people in an office.
They watched half of one episode and didn't get it, but the more you get into it, it's nuts. LoL!
The cool thing about that series is that you can watch it over and it's still funny. You'll notice new stuff that you missed the first time. Some people watch it over and over, which is kinda rare for a tv show.
- +1 y
Lol tbh, i dont like it enough to watch a second time haha. But its sad it took season 5 for pam ti have more of a personality. she's so goofy in that episode where holly has a new boyfriend.
- +1 y
@DizzyDesii It takes a while for us introverts to come out of our shell. (Sorry! 😬 )
- +1 y
@Jamie05rhs i would know. I used to be one. I’ve since transitioned to ambivert lol. But i love shy guys cause its fun bringing them out their shell. Sadly Michael brought Pam out of her shell before Jim did 🤣
- +1 y
@DizzyDesii Ah
- +1 y
You're the one person who probably should watch it over because you missed half the damn episodes. 😂
- +1 y
Lmao i only missed like 2 eps a season. Its at least 20 eps a season

+1 yFor me, personally, I’ve worked for two different Michael Scotts and about 20 Todd Packers. I haven’t worked with a Dwight but that’s probably because I’m more like him. But what I liked about the pranks they played on Dwight was how petty the pranks were but he could never just laugh at himself and always took himself way too seriously. Even if those pranks were played on me I would at least give them credits for coming up with it.

+1 yI've watched the series a couple of times, and I don't want to spoil it, but the final episodes are one of the best there is.
It's because it's more real, still, with these dumb characters, some you think are annoying, some amazing, but they all show so much human character because nobody is perfect and you see how they get vulnerable and personal, real and how they grow through the show.
And there's also the aspect that it's easy to watch. Just like sitcoms like Big Bang Theory, Friends, HIMYM, New Girl, etc.
Although they're not the same, it's just... more down to earth.00 ReplyCringe humor is too much for me. It feels too real and upsetting to be funny. That's most of what Michael is. Especially the episode "Scott's Tots" it is unbearable.
23 Reply- +1 y
I was only on season 2 and i doubt i’ll watch season 3+ Cause he's major cringe
+1 yI liked it because Carell's character was this well-known-to-most try hard who constantly made a fool of himself trying to be popular, always saying the wrong thing. He was a good example of what not to be as a leader, I remember that one scene were a hot girl visiting mentions she likes coffee and so he goes out and buys an entire espresso machine and acts obsessed with coffee. Not to mention his shenanigans on "inclusivity day". Dwight had quite a few fun moments too, but pam and jim were dry and overrated characters. But yeah, I wouldn't say it's one of my favorites but it was fun enough for me to watch.
01 Reply- +1 y
Jim and Ryan are extremely dry and dull but their facial expressions when they look at the cam are so cute
+1 yI hated The Office for its first season but then I began to notice the depth of the show and I really loved it after that.
I was not able to stand Friends for even 5 minutes. I am sorry but I hate that show to the core.
If you remove the music, the show is completely mental. That is what I think. Two and a half men seems more sensible to me than FRIENDS.
I don't know what people see in it.01 Reply- +1 y
Lmao Friends isn't great by any means 😂 i only like Monica and chandlers relationship before they married. The rest of it is fast forwardable
After the first season, the cringe gets much lighter and Michael becomes much more likeable.
The first season is hard to get through, especially the episode with racial/ethnic stereotypes, I had to pause that shit multiple times.
I like the show because of Dwight and Angela and some other characters.
It's the only show I've watched three times.
But yeah, Jim is kind of a dick, later he becomes a nicer guy.016 Reply- +1 y
Whos angela? Im still learning names lol. Bt yea i like Dwight and Ryan
- +1 y
Oh yea i know her now
- +1 y
Im on season 4. Season 3 was definitely more tolerable
- +1 y
Tea i was gonna start it but the th is already on season 3 of Parks and Rec. i’ll wait til it comes back around to season 1. Im doubtful i’ll like it because im not a chris pratt fan. he's ok in Jurassic World but im not crazy about him in other stuff. Im not big on sarcasm.
- +1 y
Omgeeee jim proposed in the rain at a gas station 😍 its oddly romantic because it was so unexpected
- +1 y
I dont consider jim and pam perefct since they emotionally cheated on karen and roy. But yes angela and Dwight are my absolute fave! But it makes me mad that she's cheating on andy. Just break up with him first
- +1 y
Yeah, too much cheating there.
Kinda undermines Karen and Roy as characters only existing as plot devices too, the show wants you to root for Pam and Jim even though they are pretty selfish people.
Dwight and Angela get their comeuppance at least, that's why they feel more deserved to me. - +1 y
I've liked dwight since day 1 and im only halfway through season 5. They play a new season on tv daily
- +1 y
Omg creed killed it as the joker lmao
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7IOuiHwgCXw - +1 y
Lol, Creed is gold.
His whole story is one wild ride all the way to the end of the show.
He wasn't even supposed to be a character, Creed Bratton (the actor) was supposed to be an extra without lines but he sneaked into a scene with Phyllis and improvised a conversation without anyone noticing, they shot it and then they had to pay him extra for having a speaking role lmao.
That's how his backstory originated, that he walked into Dunder Mifflin one day and pretends to work there lol.
And since then Creed Bratton just played a wacky version of himself. - +1 y
Yea i saw that creeds real name and everything is the same so i assumed he was like how bernie mac and Martin played a fictionalized version of themselves on their shows. But omg rn im at work watching the episode where dwight starts a fire for them to do a drill and omg its the funniest crap ever with how they’re reacting. Angelas trying to save her cat. Oscar is crawling through the ceiling. Kevin is raiding the vending machine. Stanley ispassed out. Jim is slick leaving behind pam but luckily she kept up behind him.
+1 yOffice has a very particular style of comedy that I'm not very fond of. If I had to choose between The Office and Friends , I'd go for Friends because Friends is funny most of the times. The Office feels a lot more cringey than some of the shows it used to compete with. So I don't find anything great about that show ,
10 ReplyI don't know. I don't normally even watch shows like this but watched all of it 4 times a row. Literally right after the last episode I started it all over again because I was so sad it ended. Took a few months break and now going fifth time and it feels fresh again.
01 Reply- +1 y
Welp.
The first season of The Office is boring I always skip it. Michael’s character is cringey but he’s like the baby of the show and it’s part of what makes him likable. Michael has redeeming qualities to him too. He’s loyal to people and puts relationships before money or personal gain. Dwight is hilarious. Stanley is funny too.
01 Reply- +1 y
I just imagine stanley as a meme cause thats how i first heard of him
- 1.5K opinions shared on Entertainment & Arts topic.
+1 yYes, Michael Scott is cringey. That's the whole point. That's why it's funny. Haha
But yeah, I agree. Sometimes Jim is a bit of a bully.
But Dwight is also annoying, so...
My favorite character is Stanley, though. He's always like, [paraphrasing] "Gahd, why do I have to put up with all of these people? ... But it's a job! (Think about the money. Think about the money. Think about the money.)"02 Reply- +1 y
he's cringey because of his stereotypes. If he didn't joke about that, i’d find him funny.
- +1 y
@DizzyDesii But there are real people like that. Michael just has some sort of autism disability or something (no offense, anyone), so he says every dumb thing that pops into his head.
+1 y-blinks-

I dont know how you can hate on Jim. Jim is the man. Toby was okay Dwight was a fucking moron but he has his moments. You gotta love Pam, she is sweet and innocent. Stanley was and always will be the man.
04 Reply- +1 y
I didn't hate jim. I just dont like how he bullies dwight. I dislike michael when he stereotypes
- +1 y
@DizzyDesii Dwight is a bully
- +1 y
Well i stopped at season 2. They bullied him from what i saw
- +1 y
@DizzyDesii if you watched.. Dwight asked for it.. Dwight was the little piss ant who would cause shit in a class room and say it wasn't him
+1 yExactly, character development pays off trust me. It's why it's one of my favorites and an impressive feat of comedy. Which then brought us Parks and Rec which though I've not seen, looks like it follows a more parody to the Office while making it's own intriguing group to follow as we witness the birth of Starlord.

It's true, that's kind of the premise of it.
Just like Superstore or Cheers or other shows like that. People who work in Offices definitely relate to the Office. I used to work in a School and some of the staff meetings reminded me of their conference room meetings on the Office. There was always one teacher who loved to talk too much and blab on and on like Michael. Everyone else just wanted to get out of there. - +1 y
@Dexter_Morgan42 gosh i could not get into cheers as a kid but i loved the theme song
- +1 y
Yeah, great song. 🙂
Yeah Cheers was another popular show in the 80's about a normal workplace/pub, basically full of crazy characters. It's kind of dated now.
The weird thing about the Office is that it wasn't that popular when it was originally on television.
Like a decade later after it was over, people started binge watching the series they really got into it. - +1 y
