Is watching sports just as pointless as watching soap operas?

I don't watch them. I actually practice a sport (Judo) 3x a week and come home very tired. On the little time available, I'll continue progressing on my 2,000 pieces puzzle, cook other dishes or pastry, read more and perhaps start on my own novel.

When you're watching a sport (or yelling at game/TV), all you're doing is cheering for someone else's fame. That someone else has worked hard, is healthy and is exhausted at the end. Similarly when you're watching a soap opera, you're watching someone else's success. You're cheering for others but yourself.

Thing you're not able to do if you're on the TV for hours watching sports and soap operas:
- Meet new people
- Earn money or learn new things/skills
- Cultivate your mind with knowledge
- Perhaps meet your boyfriend/girlfriend
- Get healthy
