+1 yNo, never in the high school band. Jr. High but no one would ever let me play! 5 years after school, I got into a band and stayed with them for 25 years. I play drums and I'm learning bass, keys and tabla. I CAN sing but not while I'm drumming unless it's a very simple beat, which I try to stay away from.
We came close to going big time! Almost got a gig with The Beach Boys or Billy Joel.
If we could've finished the third album, I'm pretty sure that would've put us on the map, although, I'm told there are people in Europe that have heard our stuff and love it.12 Reply- +1 y
And you wound up with the Monkees, right? You have to have some real talent then. Who knew?
- +1 y
Yes, I'm Mickey Dolenz! You found me out!

+1 yI started learning the violin 4 months ago. I train for about an hour daily and have 1 lesson weekly. It's quite tough at the beginning. I also play piano just for fun. (Learning easy pieces and song covers from youtube) :D

Okay so.. can you read sheet music? What is the progress rate on the violin for four months? Can you play by ear

Is your favorite movie Five Easy Pieces?
+1 yI play piano and guitar fairly well. I pretty much play for stress relief/study breaks/fun, and I've only infrequently played in front of crowds. I like to sing too, but I'm definitely not skilled.

+1 yI could, shoulda got in band in HS. Went in choir instead.
Had 4 years of piano as a kid, 3 years of organ as a young adult, with a year of guitar somewhere around 1968. Interested in drums now. But organ is my forte, actually easier to play than a piano as I get older.12 Reply- +1 y
But can you play nic nack on your knee?
- +1 y
AND paddy-whack!
Yeah, I was in band from middle school and on. I always loved music, I first started with Clarinet and then picked up percussion.
Band camp was required for marching band. Since we have to learn the half time show along with memorizing the music, it was all-day rehearsals in the sun. It was grueling at-times but it made you stronger. Band was a fraternity for the most part, was just the same as being in any team, everyone is needed for their part.10 Reply

Went anonymous to avoid associating me with my account.
But I've played piano since probably the 2nd grade, joined band an added the saxophones. Then basically kept adding instruments. My recent projects are the Duduk, Erhu, singing (below), and throat singing.00 Reply
+1 yYes, I play trombone, both slide and valve, trumpet, sousaphone, baritone, tuba, percussion, Coronet, and xylophone. I received numerous awards and dance class and I'm very modest about my musical achievements haha laugh out loud.
013 Reply- +1 y
Wow, if you played with yourself you would have a whole band.

Touche

Typo on dance class supposed to be band class
- +1 y
Isn't a valve trombone basically just a really low trumpet?
- +1 y
But shaped like a trombone?
- +1 y
@De_La_BakedBeans Or is it shaped like a Hambone?
- +1 y
Very funny...
It's just I never really payed much attention to the brass section so I don't really know. - +1 y
@De_La_BakedBeans what are you, woodwinds?
- +1 y
Violin, Concert Master.
- +1 y
@De_La_BakedBeans Have you ever played Palovetsian Dances by Borodin?
- +1 y
I've heard of it, but never personally played it. It was only a high school orchestra, so not really the best skilled.
- +1 y
@De_La_BakedBeans the bell is about the same, but has valves instead of a slide.
- +1 y
Cool. Never seen one but it sounds neat.
I used to play flute in elementary and picked up drums for a bit after high school but haven't touched either in so long, unfortunately.

+1 yYeah, five of 'em. Or at least, I'm able to play five different instruments. Right now I just play guitar and a bit of cello, but I'm able to play violin, clarinet, and piano as well.
02 Reply- +1 y
Put can you play them well? Playing chop sticks on the piano doesn't count. :)
- +1 y
I played the piano for about five years. I'm a bit rusty, but put a piece infront of me and give a couple hours and I could play it pretty well.
Regarding violin, I was orchestra master for my high school orchestra, so I think that says enough in itself.
Oh, and clarinet...
I sucked at clarinet, not gonna lie. Made my head hurt too much.
Cello, I'm alright, just recently won 1st place in my regional cello solo contest.
And last but not least, guitar is okay, but not as good as some of my others because I haven't been learning it for that long.
+1 yI always hesitate to call myself a musician because I was not trained, nor do I know how to read music. But. I do produce my own music with software and mid keyboards. So yes and no?

I had a choice in life at one point. Pursue music as a career or art. I liked the people in the art dept. better so it was art. Music is just a hobby now and I make a living as an artist. As for being on this website? That is strictly out of boredom and to meet sweethearts like you.
- +1 y
so did art win?
- +1 y
Do you have an account on DeviantArt. com?
- +1 y
I do not. I have not even tried to sell any work since before the pandemic hit.
I haven't really ventured into online sales yet. My graphic design business has
kept me very busy for a few years now. The painting has been pushed to the back but
I know it's something I can do at a later date. The graphic design is much more profitable. - +1 y
make a thread about does anyone do art? I do wood working myself and will show some of mine if you show yours.

No, talking about real art lol
