What are the saddest songs you know?

Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen is super sad if you listen to the lyrics
I didn't realize it was that dark
Yeah check it out: m. youtube. com/watch? v=axAtWjn3Mfl
Thanks, will look into it more
Did you ever check out the lyrics of Bohemian Rhapsody?
Oh yeah, I didn't realize how dark it was when I was younger
Unfortunately, it has an added layer of sadness because I lost my best friend in a way that mimics the song and we both loved that song while he was alive
God, it must have been awful losing him
Yeah, it was. I was 17 and he was 16. I gave his eulogy at the funeral
I bet he appreciated it from you, sorry for your loss
I appreciate the condolences but such is life
Life really is a something 🙂
It sure is but I don't think I'd want it to be boring and uneventful
True, it would be boring
@HeartFullOfGlue thanks for MHO
No problem
You really like this juicy guy dont ya, he makes some good songs

I haven’t heard a sadder song than this in my life I think yet. Both it’s choices instrumentally, melodically, and lyrically are very sad
https://www.youtube.com/embed/prDoGmY5kj8The entire 1989 album "Disintegration" by The Cure is a sad album. It's considered a masterpiece and one of the greatest albums ever.
Don't take my word for it; listen to Kyle from South Park:
To me, the two best songs - and the saddest - are "Prayers for Rain" and the title track, "Disintegration".
"Prayers for Rain"
"Disintegration"
Here is the whole album in a single video:
... and as a playlist:

From a Robert Smith interview:

"I’d forgotten that some of the songs actually have a … [pauses] “Prayers for Rain” in particular, there’s something incredibly bleak and disturbing about it as a song. "
Robert Smith, on the cover of the album, is the leader of The Cure. He made a guest appearance on the "Mechastreisand" episode of South Park.

Oh I miss the kiss of treachery
The shameless kiss of vanity
The soft and the black and the velvety
Up tight against the side of me
And mouth and eyes and heart all bleed
And run in thickening streams of greed
As bit by bit it starts the need
To just let go
My party piece
Oh I miss the kiss of treachery
The aching kiss before I feed
The stench of a love for a younger meat
And the sound that it makes
When it cuts in deep
The holding up on bended knees
The addiction of duplicities
As bit by bit it starts the need
To just let go
My party piece
But I never said I would stay to the end
So I leave you with babies and hoping for frequency
Screaming like this in the hope of the secrecy
Screaming me over and over and over
I leave you with photographs
Pictures of trickery
Stains on the carpet and
Stains on the scenery
Songs about happiness murmured in dreams
When we both us knew
How the ending would be…
So it’s all come back round to breaking apart again
Breaking apart like I’m made up of glass again
Making it up behind my back again
Holding my breath for the fear of sleep again
Holding it up behind my head again
Cut in deep to the heart of the bone again
Round and round and round
And it’s coming apart again
Over and over and over
Now that I know that I’m breaking to pieces
I’ll pull out my heart
And I’ll feed it to anyone
Crying for sympathy
Crocodiles cry for the love of the crowd
And the three cheers from everyone
Dropping through sky
Through the glass of the roof
Through the roof of your mouth
Through the mouth of your eye
Through the eye of the needle
It’s easier for me to get closer to heaven
Than ever feel whole again
(more)
I never said I would stay to the end
I knew I would leave you with babies and everything
Screaming like this in the hole of sincerity
Screaming me over and over and over
I leave you with photographs
Pictures of trickery
Stains on the carpet and
Stains on the memory
Songs about happiness murmured in dreams
When we both of us knew
How the end always is
How the end always is…
Lyrics to "Prayers for Rain":
https://www.thecure.com/lyrics/prayers-for-rain/
You shatter me
Your grip on me
A hold on me
So dull it kills
You stifle me
Infectious sense
Of hopelessness and
Prayers for rain
I suffocate
I breathe in dirt
And nowhere shines
But desolate
And drab the hours all spent
On killing time again
All waiting for
The rain
You fracture me
Your hands on me
A touch so plain
So stale it kills
You strangle me
Entangle me
In hopelessness and
Prayers for rain
I deteriorate
I live in dirt
And nowhere glows
But drearily and tired
The hours all spent
On killing time again
All waiting for
The rain

‘Disintegration’: How The Cure Perfected The Art Of Falling Apart
SUBTITLE:
Turning The Cure into one of the biggest bands on the planet, ‘Disintegration’ remains a mind-blowing and stunningly complete album.
This is going to sound crazy because I absolutely love music I love the vibe I love the tone the tune the beat the Rhythm everything about music I love but I cannot tell use the name of one song LOL and you would think that I would know the words to a song If I really like it I mean I do know some words but it all Blends into a Harmony into one emotional beat in rhythm and that's all I have to hear I don't have to hear the words to make it a sad song the musical tell me how sad it really is if that makes sense
Since I'm kinda melancholic by nature, I think I know too many sad songs, lol
Guess can start with a classic
This song was sad on it's own, even more sad now that he took his life, being so relatable to anyone who have struggled with suicidal thoughts, feeling like they are the only that cares in a world that is so cold.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/Tm8LGxTLtQkNext one is from one of my favorite bands, it's heavy on metaphors and symbolism, but I really love what they did with both the music video and the lyrics in this one.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/MKk1u5RMTn4Can throw in a sad one from my country, since probably less known. This one is just haunting

Nirvana -Something in the Way
Nothing Compares 2 U' by Sinéad O'Connor
When I first heard why Eric Clapton wrote "Tears in Heaven," it gave me understanding that I did not have before. Here's a explanation from google:
"The song is a tribute to love's lasting powers and a lament for the death of Clapton's four-year-old son, Conor, who died on 20 March 1991 when he accidentally slipped from the 53rd-floor window of a New York City apartment building." I also have a four year old son and cannot imagine what that would be like.

Oddly enough, this was my high school graduation song. Why it was chosen is beyond me.
"Wings For Marie, pt 1" and "10,000 Days (Wings, pt 2)" by Tool.
His mother was paralyzed from a stroke for 27 years and some change (roughly 10,000 days) and passed away. The song and album title is a tribute to her, and does a complete 180 from the last song he wrote about her, "Judith" by A Perfect Circle, which was strongly critical to her faith: "Fuck your God, your Lord, your Christ," "Praise for one who left you broken down and paralyzed. He did it all for you."
I mean the video helps this a lot to be sad but it is the saddest song.
Some songs need context. Much to the same of Parasyte The Maxim, Next to you. And then of course the Tokyo Ghoul, Unravel.
Then there is silent hill songs which are all ambience within sadness and darkness.
A recent thing would be League of legends Arcane, Goodbye. I love What could of been too but Goodbye wins me I think.
These are the ones I know >
https://www.youtube.com/embed/vrr5hlSPVMIhttps://www.youtube.com/embed/zqUDRkO93DAhttps://www.youtube.com/embed/0Bg6LCg73XEIt's not the saddest, but it's up there.
Also a fellow Melanie Martinez fan, I see.
Indeed I am a fan
I avoid sad songs like the plague.
I much prefer happy songs like the one I put in this myTake :)
Happiness - What It Really Is

I had to dig through my playlist. I think most of my favorites aren't so sad. This one seems a bit tragic and hopeless though:
https://www.youtube.com/embed/aL4EMYzazgM Oh wait, I forgot about this one! It's absolutely sad and tragic:
https://youtu.be/oh2LWWORoiM
Avicii wake me up
little Wayne I feel like dying
korn coming undone
evanescence bring me back to life
Kevin gates reasonable suspicion
Nothing the script
tracy chapmen give me one reason
hank Williams I’m so lonesome
johnny mandel suicide is painless
J. cole Can I holla at ya
Biggie smalls suicidal thoughts
The killers White demon love song
G-eazy me, myself and I
And Justin Bieber baby listen to it enough and you will cry 😂
And Numb Linkin park
I think No Tears Left to Cry by Ariana Grande is both sad and hopeful. Also a lot of folk ballads are very sad (Mary Hamilton by Joan Baez because the girl gets executed for killing her baby at the end).
I still have a hard time listening to this song without getting emotional. The lyrics hits. Hard.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/enu8wwbDVDMIt's amateur hour over here, these new songs aren't sad. Here's parts of two great classical music pieces from the earlier part of the 1900's, used in two great movies
https://youtu.be/kRCubAtPiKghttps://youtu. be/oS8Sd8amxcU
Michael Longcor's "This Old Dog"; you can probably guess why. Also Billy Joel's "Leningrad". And a good third of all Irish folk songs; like Chesterton said, "all their wars are merry, and all their songs are sad".
