It'd be better if you check out the videos of people drawing/teaching how to start drawing. I'm not good at explaining, lol. I used to draw a lot until I was 16. I didn't learn from anyone. I just kept on practising until I got very good at it. I was able to make sketches in just few minutes after few years of practice. I would use a pencil and start with the outline first. (Don't put much pressure on the pencil, hold it loosely). Try to create the shape of vase/person first before you fill in the details. Once you've got the outline perfect, erase the extra lines around them, fill in the details, add shading, highlights and all before you colour them. If you want to draw only a person's face, you could use the traingle method. I'm not sure whether you ever heard of it. Google it or just check out videos on YouTube about it or watch other methods on Youtube. All the best!

Only way to get better in things is do it more and more. The more you become experienced the more nicer the outcome will be. For art I will say do more works or movements with your fingers so that you will get nice nerve connection in your fingers and you can draw smoothly. Other way is to take tips from @Dinosaursandanime65

I don’t have much. Maybe just practice drawing shapes first. I can show an example if I have any photos of drawings that were barely started

I haven’t started using colored pencils and markers yet however. I do have them but won’t be using them until I’m ready to start making the books

Stop playing with so many mediums. Draw draw draw. Analyze, draw. Don't reach for colored pencils when you struggle with anatomy. Stop trying to make a masterpiece. That's for people with far more years. Make your practice efficient. All you need is a pencil/pen and some paper.

I take you to an art store and you can see the most exquisite natural brushes, sketch papers, and books with the fine-grained tooth, Prismacolor pencils of all variety of colors, carbon pencils, and if any of these things make you think you're gonna be a better artist then stop. Stop stop stop. All you need to become a better artist is a way to make a mark on something that takes a mark.

When you master the mark with anatomy, perspective, composition, gesture, rhythm, etc, that's when you can reach for new and fancy mediums. But becoming a better artist is more than mastering the technical abilities. It's about seeing the world, and arguably with biased eyes. After all, we compete with cameras if we have no bias. You find your style and beauty in the way you see the world. That's how you become a great artist -- by seeing the world in ways most people don't, but true enough that they understand it, or have been even seen it before but without such conscious recognition of what they saw.

I picked up oil paints and acrylics when I was younger and I think that stunted my growth. I got a Wacom tablet when I was a teen and participated in Oekaki boards where people could see a breakdown of how we drew, and how fast we drew, and I found I could excel on speed (15-20 min sketches):

I've always been very mechanical though. I can draw with speed but not style or beauty of expression. I think the real test of an artist is beauty and style and expression once you get past the basics, and I never mastered those.

Keep practicing, focus on one medium at a time (colored pencils, acrylic, digital, etc), watch tutorial videos, and find your art style.

And I mean… LOTS of practice. Spend hours and hours, don’t stop trying.

My only tip is to practice everyday until you get to a point where you finally feel comfortable with how your art looks. Or you can try to look at tutorials or art from others and study their work to get an idea of how to incorporate those techniques into your own work.

In terms of pencil drawings, you could work on different genres. Once you've created drawings for all the major genres, figure out which one you think you like the most and are the best at.

Practice, take classes, and find your own style. The important thing with any type of artistry is to enjoy what you are doing.

I wish I had some but I suck at art. I would suggest taking some art classes on the high school or college level.

Practice is the most important thing. Secondarily you'll want to watch a lot of tutorials online.
