Even in a large SoCal metro area, we only had seven broadcast stations- three networks (ABC, NBC and CBS) and four independents, and one PBS (which was hard to tune in). The three networks provided live national sports, news, and evening movies. The independents broadcast local sports, local news, and reruns of TV series like I Love Lucy. PBS usually had some sort of educational programing, which didn't make it the top choice for kids!
Saturday morning was a big event because one of the channels (I can't remember which one) broadcast a full morning of cartoon shows (mostly Hanna Barbera) and other kids programing. Other than Saturday mornings and live local sports (LA Lakers, Dodgers and Rams), I don't remember watching a lot of TV as a kid.
Cartoon Network
These questions fail miserably when you ask people of a certain age (40+). When I was growing up I had... three channels. Yep, that's it. Kids TV was 90 minutes each evening with another two hours on Saturday morning. I remember a fourth channel starting when I was 13. I had to wait until my 20's until satellite TV became a thing and we started to get all the additional channels so many people today take for granted. Did we care? Nope because we had better things to do than watch TV all day.

Nickelodeon as a kid. We didn't get Disney Channel until I was around 13 and then I became obsessed
I didn't have cable when I was a kid. My family couldn't afford it. I watched Saturday morning cartoons though. Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Yosemite Sam, Garfield & Friends, Pirates of Darkwater, GI Joe, Thundercats, and X-Men. During the week I would watch Duck Tales, TaleSpin, Chip & Dale's Rescue Rangers, Batman, Darkwing Duck, Gargoyles, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and some others. Not all of those were on in the same years though.
I watched PBS, abc, FOX, UPN, the WB, TBS, TNT, Nickelodeon, and Cartoon Network. And the Family Channel (which became FOX Family, which became abc Family, which became Freeform.) Nobody had Disney Channel back then because it was a premium channel like HBO; you had to pay extra for it.
As a kid, we didn't have any of these
We had only 4 channels
ABC
CBS
NBC
PBS
There was no PBS kids, no pay TV, no VCR, No DVD players,
You wanted to watch TV at night. Well that was not happenings. All the networks shutdown at a 11PM. Nothing was 24 hrs
When I grew up (born 1962) we did not have 'kids TV channels', we were lucky if we had a couple of hours of Saturday morning TV and a couple of hours a day during the school holidays which got boring as they would be dubbed shows from Europe which were repeated Ad Nauseam, so I have little patience with kid to day when they say there is nothing to watch on TV given the channels to choose from.
The choice was UHF or VHF when I was little. If it came through when we dialed the fine tuner, let go of the rabbit ears, AND it was in English... we watched it. It didn't matter what it was.
In first grade, I remember getting up and I didn't have to be at school until 9:00 a. m. I got up at 8:00 watched Captain Kangaroo, growing up in the '70s that is what we did
PBS was the only one that even existed. The National Networks had Saturday morning and afternoon shows.
Some of us were not bougie enough for the other stuff, so whatever was on PBS kids was what we watched. 🥴
None of these were around when i was a kid, we watched RTL and RTL2
I didn't watch any of these while growing up actually 😅
When I was a kid, all we had were the 3 network TV channels.
We never had channels for kids when I was growing up. We had time set aside for kids shows on the regular channels. It was actually a great system and we had some high quality shows.
When I was a kid, we had 6 channels. ABC... NBC... CBS... PBS... and 2 Independent channels (no cable). We had to search out any kids programming we could occasionally find on those 6 channels
My dad was a cheapskate, so only channels that were included with basic cable.
As a child we only had one channel. It was CBC. There wasn't much to watch.
I preferred Cartoon Network because they had way better interesting cartoon shows to watch than Nickelodeon. Also, they have Toonami, and Adult Swim.
Uh. I’m older than all those networks except Disney and that was only on cable. I grew up watching Saturday morning cartoons.
Jetix, Disney, CN, Hungama, discovery kids, nickelodeon.
All but Cartoon Network because there weren't really any shows on that channel that I liked
