Are Creepypastas still scary in this day and age?

I used to be in the Creepypasta fandom back in the day, and the characters were actually portrayed as scary. Now, the fandom seems to be full of edgy teenage girls who turn the characters who are supposed to be cold-blooded, vicious murderers into soft, lovable freaks and draw them doing weird yaoi shit with each other.

I mean, seriously? What the fuck is this shit?
