Turpentine and dandelion wine
I’ve turned the corner and I’m doing fine
Shootin’ at the birds on the telephone line
picking ‘em off with this gun of mine
I’ve got a fire in my belly
and a fire in my head
going higher and higher
till I’m dead.
Randy Newman actually wrote that
As far as his talent as strictly a singer he certainly was not the best. Johnny Cash was loved for many other characteristics wrapped up into one making him one of the best “entertainers”. Kind of like a jack of all trades and master of none. He was an average singer, average guitarist, average songwriter…. but he had so much charisma, great speaking voice, stage presence, great looks…etc etc which made him a pop icon still to this day.
PS.. A great singer would be Elvis Presley
Oh yeah Elvis Presley! Great singer. Although I did like Johnny Cash also.
A very sad loss to the music world... His voice was pure legendary.
I don't know much about him, but my boyfriend likes him. 😂

One of the greats although I don't like all of his music some of it resonates with me. I'm more of a Carl Perkins fan myself.
Carl was a big part of him for many years
Let's first start with who he was as a man. He was truly humble and tried to live a good life. He was a excellent singer and guitarist BUT his writer takes some of that credit. Without a good writer that writes songs that fit the person, not just voice but style makes the talent shine! I miss him dearly and love his music! R. I. P. Johnny!
He was never a good singer. If you compare him from a technical perspective almost every other singer on the planet had a bigger octave range and more power.
Lots of people could sing the way Johnny Cash does but Johnny Cash could never sing the way a lot of other people do.
I wasn't thrilled by him. I'm certainly not a fan but if one of his records came on, I'd have no problem with listening to it.
I really miss him. He was an American icon. One of the most interesting things is that he and Bob Dylan were really good friends.
Yes, like all of his music, and when he sang with his wife
His character and morals went down a wonky path, but as for music I like a couple of his songs.
Great meaning and feeling in his songs.
Of course, he usually sang in the Key of H - - - - -
I think he's great. My dad used to say him and Ernest Tubb couldn't sing for shit haha
He is a deeply flawed person, but his music is good and he made a large impression.
He made some great hits and is forever a legend
One of my favorite especially up where we’re from!!🎶🎼🎸
