Do you have an artistic hobby?

My profession is an artistic one, so my outlet in my free time is usually spending time with people, which is funny because I'm also an introvert.

For those of you without artistic professions, do you have artistic hobbies? Poetry, painting, photography? What do you like about it? How long have you been doing it?

i work in healthcare but, paint, sculpt, crate my own stuff in my free time. for me i have eclectic taste so i been making my own things or altering things since i was a kid started with painting my own shoes

I have made a lot of stuff over the years. I use wall paper and wall borders and fabric to line the inside of my boxes.

May seem weird, but collecting skateboards, cds, and dvds are part of my works of art because of how I organize them. I love to admire them and their patterns. I also enjoy poetry but its not something i do monthly. I like to collect canvas paintings and pictures as well. I just really love laying around admiring them while listening to music. I used to write and draw often in HS but my hand started cramping up around college. I always had an interest in carpentry and hate i didn't take “shop/building traits” in high school. I wish I had majored in film or gone on to be a dance choreographer. #CreativityIsEverything

Its a bit ocd but i have to get them pretty like i like it haha. So sometimes its color coded, other times its alphabetical order or both. And i have so many of each so i could decorate a whole room

If you had gone to film school, do you think you know what your focus would have been? I'm there right now and I'm focused on Film Editing and Directing.

I was more into the screenwriting, critiquing, and directing aspect. I definitely want to be behind the scenes and preferably creating the storylines and choosing the casting. I think i just named several things tho haha

I've been a musician for most of my life and I play saxophone in a few different jazz bands. What I really like about jazz though is improvisation. I never know what's going to come out but it's like I can feed off the energy of a crowd because I really want to impress them. Even though I'm usually nervous it's worth it if I can play something that impresses people.

I also really want to write poetry but I can never seem to finish one. It's like I get a burst of inspiration and start writing a poem but I can't ever finish it. I've been trying for like two years and I still haven't finished a poem lol.

I used to write. It was like ''venting'' to me, I really think I should start doing it again 😅 I also used to write fanfic, God I'm embarrassed 🤣

I also had a period when I would draw/sketch but I'm not really good at it, so I quit. I thought about starting to paint (maybe just following the Bob Ross' videos, it could be fun).

That's a great idea! Bob's whole thing is that there's no wrong way, you just use techniques to have fun and the result isn't too important :)

Im a guitar player, i draw, and recently have wanted to start doing photography. I started guitar at 13 but didn't get serious until recent years. Drawing I've done ever since i was tiny lol. Music is something that speaks to me on a spiritual level. Its a language that gets the point across no matter what language you speak. Drawing is cool simply because you can create a whole world on a piece of paper or copy a memory. Photography, you can capture the beauty of something in a given moment.

I'm heavily into music but I doubt you could call it a profession, seeing as how, over the 25 years that I was in the band, I seriously doubt I made more than about $500. That comes out to about $20 a year! I'm also into comedy, magic and I do a little voice acting in movies. I also collect records and have over 60,000, so far.

Being an inteovert myself most of my hobbies are more active than creative and involve only myself. However recently I've been thinking of trying to write some song lyrics. Then learning at least two instuments to play along with it. Let's just say its a slow process lol.

I've been playing a musical instrument since my childhood, but I've been dealing with photography as a visual art as well. I like discovering new angles, new views from usual spots; and it's like a therapy for me to press the shutter... I've dropped one below, hope you like it.

Yeah for me, my work is strictly regulated and has no room for creative freedom so I have to let out my creativity in my hobbies. I am a musician and really love to compose songs though so I do that as a hobby.

I've been learning to make things in blender lately like making a rigged character I've been having a lot of fun doing it and its very fulfilling. feel like im finally accomplishing things in my free time

My education is in the medical field, so that isn't artistic at all. But I love photography and that is my artistic hobby.

Yes I love writing and Music. I write poems, short Horror stories, novels, dark pieces and songs. In music I play piano, sing, rap and dance.
