Today, April 28th is National Superhero day, do you have a favorite?

Being from the Buckeye state, for me it's easy, it's Cleveland's own the Man of Steel, SUPERMAN!!! (although the Dark Knight is a very close second).
Batman, Superman, Captain America, Wonder Woman, Iron Man, Hulk, and Spiderman are just some of the superheroes whose names we recognize. Even though they are fictional, these superheroes provide role models for our children. They serve and protect while fighting evil.

My favorite was a DC hero - the Phantom Stranger. No one knows who he is, where he came from or anything about his real identity. He was a supernatural being whose sorcery, in his own word, was to bring light.

My first exposure to the Phantom Stranger came in DC Superstars presents #13, where he was teamed up with Deadman. After that I read his appearances in "Justice League" and then finally I collected all 41 issues of his comic. (This not counting an earlier 4 issue stint where he looked and sounded somewhat different.)

Beyond that, my favorite was another DC character, Green Lantern. My favorite Marvel character was similar - but not nearly as interesting - Dr. Strange.

Keeping in mind that my comic book reading days were in the mid to late 1970s. So I was mostly a "silver age" comic book reader.

So many heroes from WWII. The soldiers who risked it all freeing Europe from the Nazis and the civilians who risked their lives to aid help them. And now the people of Ukraine fighting off the Russians who are under a leader who is as crazy and evil as Hitler was.

I have multiple heroes I look up to, Captain America ( Rogers/ Wilson) to Black panther in the marvel universe to Batman and John Constantine in the DC.
