I was totally hyping the film up on the site but it was kinda disappointing to me. It's still the coolest trailer though in my opinion:But I feel like Robert Eggers went a bit conventional. Like he was balancing his horror film weirdo side (which I love -- VVitch, Lighthouse) with Hollywood action side.
And the end result was something a bit in-between. Awesome visuals and atmosphere as always, but not so shocking/horrific, and a bit anticlimatic if we're looking for a Hollywood type of action flick. There's no strong protagonist, for example, to serve the action side of things. But there's too much convention and action to serve something outside of that.
