What did you guys think of The Northman?

I was totally hyping the film up on the site but it was kinda disappointing to me. It's still the coolest trailer though in my opinion:

But I feel like Robert Eggers went a bit conventional. Like he was balancing his horror film weirdo side (which I love -- VVitch, Lighthouse) with Hollywood action side.

And the end result was something a bit in-between. Awesome visuals and atmosphere as always, but not so shocking/horrific, and a bit anticlimatic if we're looking for a Hollywood type of action flick. There's no strong protagonist, for example, to serve the action side of things. But there's too much convention and action to serve something outside of that.

Trailer was great hype.
I thought it sucked.
Great story line, horrible acting.
"Rraoooaaa".
"No, roooaaarrraa".
"Yes, RRROOOAAAA".
That final fight was ludicrous and embarrassing.
I've fought while wearing 80 lbs of black armor in the summer heat and no warrior gets that tired so fast. Sword fights rarely last more than a few seconds.

I haven't see it. Doesn't sound like much of plot. A lot of bad ass barbarian guys flexing and doing bad ass barbarian things. And some hot babes thrown in.
I'll probably watch it when it comes on Netflix.

I will take your word on the movie. The trailer you shown me, sure does look good. Some trailers only show the best scenes. Also, can't stand when a trailer has a song that you never heard and like it, you watch the movie, that song isn't in the movie.
