What is the biggest problem with TV today?

A lot of people complain about tv today just not being all that great, whether it be because of overt political messaging or stale ham-fisted story telling or long running franchises making a return with plot holes to the original content.

If you don't like tv today or have a problem with the quality, what is the worst?

It’s all the same half-baked garbage. How many cop dramas do we need? Medical shows? And then it’s like all these prime time or family focused shows are so corny and weird.

I don't know, it’s like there’s very few original ideas left, or it’s like shows feel the need to cater to a mass audience/wide range of people, so there’s just no legitimate appeal. Everything is filtered through a faux-positive lens. It’s like all artificial good vibes. We can’t articulate anything unsettling or even half-controversial, or be too on-the-nose because that might step on a few sensitive peoples’ toes.

I feel the same about music. It’s like music is made anymore with the assumption that you are dumb or intellectually challenged, so it’s just the most basic, asinine hooks and messaging. It feels like it’s made for kids, yet it sells the idea that drugs and selfish behavior are cool or something. It’s like pushing toxic content and packaging it in an appealing, innocent enough presentation.

I just think it sucks. Harmless at best, but sends wrong messages to impressionable minds at worst. Same with TV, sure different strokes for different folks, but sometimes giving a platform to a bunch of cornballs that aren’t as funny as they’re being marketed as… it’s just not cool. I feel annoyed watching most TV anymore. And listening to today’s top hits. It all feels incredibly artificial and like it’s trying to sway me into whatever ulterior motive it’s trying to push on people.

The social pandering and the political correctness.

I've found plenty of shows that ignore all that but there's still so much out there that just beats you over the head with the diversity stick.

You can't forsake a good story in order to push a political message. There's no nuance or artistry. It all feels manufactured.

There are too many channels each with a limited budget so the result is tons of crappy content. Also people willl watch anything todsay. Look at all the so called reality shows. They are all cheap to produce and people watch them.

There's not necessarily anything wrong with TV to me but I feel like better options exist now if you wanna watch stuff without having to flip through channels lol (Netflix, Hulu, etc)
