What are some good, fun, easy to pick up video games that don't take up much time?

So, I may be a millennial, but I am basically the definition of a dinosaur. I suck with technology and the stuff basically doesn't interest me (except cameras; that's the one technological. That said, I do occasionally enjoy playing videogames, and I thought it might be good to get an Xbox Series S, since I don't really care about 4k graphics and don't need/want the latest and greatest thing.

As far as game recommendations: I don't want to play games with long campaigns/stories, or anything that will require a bunch of time investment to get good at.

I basically want the kind of games that you can randomly pick up for a couple rounds, like once a month. Preferrably kid friendly, but they don't have to be.

Any suggestions?

Lol i also am not big on technology. But I’ve owned several consoles (N64, Gameboy Advance SP, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS2, PS3, Switch Lite, Wii, DS, DS Lite) and video games but out of them, I was really only big on Sims 3/PC, My Sims/DS, GTA/PS, NFS/Xbox, MarioKart/N64, and FH3/Xbox. I bought some baseball games and Riders Republic a year or so ago but still haven't even opened em. Just can't bring myself to hookup the systems. I bought the switch lite in 2019 and put it down after a month of playing. Its almost as bad as the wii. Anyways I highly recommend Forza Horizon 3 although its old now. It helps me distress and stay calm and I haven't played much in years but sometimes I’ll just go on there and customize cars. The depiction of Australia in that game is so beautiful. I made an old mytake about it a while back. Its even my fave game trailer of all time

first game which came to m mind is Stardew Valley, a game even my mom loves to play, its the best game for non gamers.
You inherit your Grandpas Farm and build it up, grow crops, have some cows and chicken, get to know the vilagers... there are no wrong choices and you can play it whenever you want.

(Japanese) RPGs are easy to play but often have a huge convuleted story. And you may forget what you are doing and why if you only play once a month.
Rpgs like Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Witcher, Dragons Dogma, Child of Light, Earthlock, Grandia, Breath of Fire, Skyrim,...

Rouge likes are easy to pick up and a game session usually lasts only 5~45 mins, but they tend to be difficult and may frustrate you.
Games like Dead Cells, Children of Morta, Hades, Darkest Dungeon, ...

(Arcade/Casual) Racing games,
if you are interested in cars and racing you may want to try some racing games, they varry in complexity and accesability, Some are more simulation and you spend hours in menus setting up the car, choosing the tires, fine tuning every detail, others are more fun but less realistic, depends how deep into the details you want to go.
Forza Horizon, Grid, Need for Speed, Burnout, ...

Maybe you are interested in sport, so maybe a Fifa, NBA, Madden, Golf, Wrestling, ... game.

The Lego games are kid friendly, really good or at least decent games and easy to play, like Lego Star Wars, Lego Jurassic World, Lego Harry Potter,... But their fun depends on wether or not you like the movies/franchise.

Sure.

Be aware of any games that has "soulsborn" (Dark Souls, Bloodborn, Nioh, Sekiro,...) in its description, these are really hard and you will die a lot.

vampire survivors is cool, it's a reverse bullet hell where you shoot lots of projectiles at stuff and they come at you in waves
