Background story:

Jennifer Jenson is a Medal of Honor winner and a two time purple heart winner from the (Future) Second Korean Conflict. She was injured by an IED in that conflict, losing her right eye and right arm entirely, and losing vision in her left eye and suffering severe burns on the right side of her face. She volunteered for Karl Clark's Warhead program at Star Net corporation, where retired Colonel Olsen experimented on her using Nanites model 23-Zeta. Nanite 23-Zeta is a self-evolving nano-machine designed to repair and weaponize human tissue at the genetic molecular level. When Ayxa Alexandra broke into Section 5 at Star Net, the top secret weapons division, Karl Clark activated Warhead before she was fully programmed. He then tried to override her free will after the fact. Jennifer fought back and hacked her own nanites, rewiring her electronic neural net to serve her own will. She then joined Ayxa and Team Gamma, whom she had been ordered to capture alive.

Just FYI, it's totally legal to name her Warhead. Names of characters cannot be copyrighted, and they can only be trademarked if there are movies/books/significant amounts of merchandise named after them.

DC and Marvel both have a Cheetah. They both have an Enchantress. They both have a Sabertooth. There's no "whoever got there first" rule.

I don't know how well that line of reasoning actually holds up in a court of law. "Multiversus" isn't allowed to make a "Gandalf" character because the Tolkein family forbade it based on book rights, not the Peter Jackson film.

I didn't know about t he "Warhead" marvel character until a girl pointed it out to me last time I mentioned this character, so it was a coincidence that I invented a female hero with the same codename. However, in some patent and copyright case I'm aware of, "Independent invention" is not protected. The first person to file the patent/copyright wins, even if they both invented it on the exact same day or even if they invented it in reverse order to the way the patent/copyright got filed, first one to file the patent/copyright wins. It's how Apple Trademarked "Apple" and so on. It's why Google owns the word "Google" even though they didn't invent it.

I want to copyright the word "Is" so nobody can form a complete sentence without paying me a royalty.

There's a Gandalf in the comic book series Thorgal. There's a Gandalf in the anime The Familiar of Zero. There's even a Gandalf in the TV sitcom Friends. None of them violate trademark. Gandalf Alfgeirsson is a legendary Viking king. Tolkien's estate doesn't own the word.

You're exactly right: you can't copyright the word "is." You also can't copyright the word "warhead."
