He/she either knows very little about cars and bought it cause it was small, cute, and asumed that meant good mileage and economy.

OR...

He/she is a seasoned car enthusiast and is well versed in Mini's rich racing pedigree among Rally Cross and the BTCC and bought it cause the car is actually quite peppy and has decent performance for its class.
