that is true, I know a few people who still plays video games and they're already 30. that is literally all they do and they still live with their parents. I don't wanna be in an environment like that, staying in just laying down on the couch and playing video games, like dude, get out! do something productive.
Research has shown that people who play video games are smarter and have better problem solving skills than people who don't play them.
You need a 145 I. Q. to play StarCraft or WarCraft at a competent skill level. Otherwise, you'll be stuck in bronze league or Code F forever and wonder why you never improve.
The only People who need to grow up are those who think videogames are toys for kids.
Videogames are an art medium and have been for well over 2 decades now. Just like you never outgrow reading books or watching movies, you shouldn't have to outgrown videogames. You can quit if you want but continuing to play does not retract from your maturity
The opposite is true: you're possibly more mature. Maturity doesn't mean rejecting every little thing you believe is childish, we were all children once. Maturity is having fun how you see fit, and if your entertainment and fun doesn't hurt you or anyone else then what's wrong with it? If we weren't supposed to like things that are "just for kids" then why do parents have fun playing games with their children? Because no matter what age we always want to play and have fun.
Only if that's the only thing they do. But my husband plays videos games and I lije them to. I really want to get that Kirby forgotten land game. It looks so cute and still haven't finished Mario odyssey.
I play video games it’s just something I enjoy doing it helps me relax after a long day at work. Or on a day off I don’t spend hours upon hours doing it but it’s a hobby I enjoy and I don’t find anything wrong with it.
and because my dad also likes to play games it’s a way for us to bond together.

A video game is really just a puzzle or series of puzzles that can take different forms. I doubt that you would label a person who enjoyed puzzles as being "immature" for doing so, so it would follow that playing video games does not make one immature either.
Recreation is creative and important to mental health.
Why 21? Wherever that odd number come from? Any mature adult can play video games. Some games are even rated M for Mature (similar to R — under 18 must have an adult with them too see in the cinema). Furthermore, video games are healthy because they require the player to make quick decisions. Just because it’s unpopular doesn’t mean it’s wrong.

I don't think so. I'm not advocating drug use but gaming can be addictive. I think gaming is OK so long as it doesn't get ahold of you. I have an addictive personality. I can't do ANYTHING I enjoy part way. So I have to Regulate my gaming or I'd get too into it. Life is about balance. Back in the day I was a World of Warcraft fiend.

There’s nothing immature about liking any sort of game. Games can even be educational. I’ve played video games that have tested my memory, puzzle solving skills, sense of strategy, and even creativity. (I’m not calling any games classes of course, but many can help keep your mind going.)
No, I don’t think so…I used to though. I think some use the games to relax or as a way to have fun. I don’t play myself but that’s for the younger generations.
@NathanDavis That doesn't change what I've said, does it? I played video games as a kid. I guess it's like participating in a movie.. which is cool. But the two aren't comparable.. you will get tired and be forced to stop sport , but you can just go and go at video games.
I actually was able to play sports for 6 to 8 hours...
video games, usually two hours...
at the end of the day, videogames are entertainment and you want to be entertained and to pretend that adults don't need entertainment is just silly... lol, because they sure get it in so many ways, not just videogames
the industry of fantasy... is a huge huge business, for adults
think about it, fantasy... magic, romance, superhero stuff... hey, even sports, lol
all of those are things we mostly pick up as we are children... and you still have plenty of adult and grown ups who keep these hobbies, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, all those romance novels, fantasy novels and so many other things, rom-com movies, horror movies... but I never think other people are immature and childish just because they are into other kinds of fantasy and idealization they picked up as kids... because is not like that, is not as simple as that
same goes for videogames... especially on this site, a lot of people in here who are some of the most mature adults, well centered and who clearly are a great example of what a grown up is, they also liked or like some videogaming from time to time
so this question is incredibly stupid from the get go
why have a doubt if people who play videogames when the evidence is right in front of our eyes? clearly is not like that
and only people who think they are way too special and sophisticated for a "videogame" would think such thing or this way... and those are just snobby people, lol
The people who disagreed with me seem to be displaying a common human error that isn't necessarily linked to immaturity. They didn't read the description underneath the question.
I was saying that I agreed with the description. If I was answering the question I would have said "yes" or "no". I said "I agree". Logically it makes no sense agreeing to a question as we can't read minds.
ah right... "so now that I humbly admit to my prejudices without quitting my prejudices, I am closer to perfection, so venerate me"
similar to when Trump said that dodging taxes make him smart... that he could kill people in the middle of the street and people would still vote for him... and that when he says all those stupid things and lies he is just "saying it as it is"
think about it this way... what if someone held a prejudice against women, and also against women from Albania, and then these people are expressing that prejudice so openly and looking for people to agree to it
would you then be "oh okay, he just thinks the worse about me because he prefers "better than me"
if you are okay and accept this prejudice, then what other kind of prejudice are you willing to 'accept as okay an fine" as well?
@NathanDavis if be like "oh he thinks others are better than me... it really depends but that's dumb if he thinks all others are better than all Albanians." And oh well "good if he keeps away from us".
I already agreed that the question isn't a good one. And I explained that I was agreeing with his words ""I know it's not the case for many people, but still it's something I find difficult to let go""
I'm 9 years older than you and I can tell you that most gamers are actually my age. Gaming is a hobby for adults, go ahead and look up the average age for gamers.
Sitting on your ass and rotting away in front of a TV is less productive than playing video games. Playing video games increases hand-eye coordination, puzzle solving skills and so on.
The same shit was being said about film when the medium was still relatively new in the 30's and 40's. Video games are another form of entertainment and in some cases can tell a story much better than a book or a film does. My father is 60 years old and can understand this. Doesn't mean he must enjoy them himself.

no... but people who think that "adult playing videogames is immature" whoever thinks that way is not only immature themselves but also ignorant
and well, you just said it yourself... prejudice, that sums it up very well
prejudice is 48% immaturity, and 48% ignorance

People can be mature and still play video games smh
The only People who need to grow up are those who think videogames are toys for kids.

Context. Is it for work or causal entertainment.. time with the kids.. lots of reasons it’s fine to play games.
Only if that's the only thing they do. But my husband plays videos games and I lije them to. I really want to get that Kirby forgotten land game. It looks so cute and still haven't finished Mario odyssey.

I don’t think so, I’m almost 24 and still play and grew up with my dad playing too. As long as it’s not an obsession it’s fine

Online games can also lead to friends. :)

Only if they are living in someone’s basement and totally unmotivated with their life.
I agree. I know it's not true for everyone but it rubs me the wrong way. I'd rather they play sport.
you can do both... lol
in fact, I have
@NathanDavis That doesn't change what I've said, does it? I played video games as a kid. I guess it's like participating in a movie.. which is cool. But the two aren't comparable.. you will get tired and be forced to stop sport , but you can just go and go at video games.

@NathanDavis you must be special. 🙄
Who is pretending adults don't need entertainment? And what did they say that means that?
the industry of fantasy... is a huge huge business, for adults
think about it, fantasy... magic, romance, superhero stuff... hey, even sports, lol

@NathanDavis oh I agree that the question is not a good one. The answer is obviously "it depends" but people always ask questions with such answers.
Or sometimes.
The people who disagreed with me seem to be displaying a common human error that isn't necessarily linked to immaturity. They didn't read the description underneath the question.
I was saying that I agreed with the description.
If I was answering the question I would have said "yes" or "no". I said "I agree". Logically it makes no sense agreeing to a question as we can't read minds.
lol right... wasn't that funny as well
" if you are 20 that is okay... but if you turned 21 oh boy, that's different"
"if you want to be immature at 21 then pick up alcoholism... you are of age, so quit videogames"
@NathanDavis I see it differently than you. I see it as the asker humbly admitting they are wrong to stereotype. 🤷♀️
ah right... "so now that I humbly admit to my prejudices without quitting my prejudices, I am closer to perfection, so venerate me"
similar to when Trump said that dodging taxes make him smart... that he could kill people in the middle of the street and people would still vote for him... and that when he says all those stupid things and lies he is just "saying it as it is"
that's a very tricky form of being "humble" lol
@NathanDavis how is it a harmful thing to hsve a preference? Sum kim Ai isn't necessarily an extremist or violent lol.
preferences are more than okay
prejudice is not...
think about it this way... what if someone held a prejudice against women, and also against women from Albania, and then these people are expressing that prejudice so openly and looking for people to agree to it
would you then be "oh okay, he just thinks the worse about me because he prefers "better than me"
if you are okay and accept this prejudice, then what other kind of prejudice are you willing to 'accept as okay an fine" as well?
@NathanDavis if be like "oh he thinks others are better than me... it really depends but that's dumb if he thinks all others are better than all Albanians." And oh well "good if he keeps away from us".
I already agreed that the question isn't a good one. And I explained that I was agreeing with his words ""I know it's not the case for many people, but still it's something I find difficult to let go""
that is the dangerous thing about prejudice...
as long as prejudice is not against us personally, or we agree with the premise implied in the prejudice
then we are okay with it, or we are willing to find a way to "excuse it" or just rather see it as a "preference, so it is okay"
all prejudices are wrong, I think... and there's no other way about it
but yes, I also see your point... open discrimination is less worse than hidden tricky discrimination
@NathanDavis that wasn't my pout but I'm letting this go like Elsa would sing.
great, now I will be listening to that song in my head for hours... lmao
@NathanDavis haha
Drown it out with another good song
no, is alright... I've had nieces, so I know how it is to play and sing along to it for hours, lmao...
@NathanDavis hmm but this is willing self torture.
@NathanDavis unless. are you training for when your nieces visit or you visit
lol... maybe
but I've switched to some RAMMSTEIN now
I'm 9 years older than you and I can tell you that most gamers are actually my age. Gaming is a hobby for adults, go ahead and look up the average age for gamers.

Some of the games are fun and it’s good for your brain but it depends on the game cause I hate blood and fighting or gore and hate.
