I think people are impressed with the quick rhythms and wordplay, charismatic delivery, and it certainly is, but there’s a lot else about it that really pulls it down. I do like rap but only when it reaches beyond its more toxic elements.
I also think a lot of people see what’s trendy and popular and jump on the bandwagon because if it’s popular it’s “good” yeah? “It must be, I mean why wouldn’t it?” I think people figure… The media wouldn’t prop up something bad, right? Or something that sucked?
A lot of people don’t give music (or entertainment) much thought. It’s the “hot thing” so they listen. Goes for a lot of the really generic pop music too. It’s generally like an assembly line type of product, rather than a genuine artistic statement. Doesn’t always apply, but that’s my thing… if it’s real and doing something interesting, I’m way more inclined to like it, than if it’s just mindless drivel.
Thank you for giving your perspective. I am trying to learn how to appreciate the recent rap and it's just too deep for me. I surprisingly found "no role modelz" catchy then look for the lyrics on genius that's really helpful for me to understand the references. The 90s and 00s rap is easier to be related or learn. The new rap is like too much tuning (dk the term). Anyways any new rap you recommend if you don't mind sharing. Thank you🥰
It's catchy, trendy, and the lyrics are relatable. Most young guys can identify with what they're talking about, or at least that's how they want to appear to others in public. The music itself is a lot worse when you analyze it, but you're not really supposed to do that. Just listen and vibe. I think tryhard rap is kinda cringe tho. Nobody wants to listen to a walking vocabulary.
Hey how are you doing
Suddenly a lot worse
What's the problem
Thank you for replying. It's very helpful and your reaction to your friend is fun.
I just look at the lyrics of beat the odds (JID) and Raydar (little tjay). It's like they both convey a message about gun control, is that the reason
little* auto correction. Sorry if offense anyone
Yeah kind of. Its like in the states people are always getting mad about rappers having guns so now they started rapping about that since its such an issue for them
Cool wish I can understand rap more coz I quite like the vibe and the anger inside. I like they rap about the society issues, that's really unique among all genres.

Music trends kind of come and go in waves depending on what artists are hot. Pop, rap, rock, alternative, country, techno, Dance, R&B or whatever. It just all just comes and goes in and out of popularity. I'm old enough to remember when just about everything had it's time to shine.
Beats me, I prefer real music.
