Can we stop pretending that because there are black people in a movie or tv show it’s racist to not like it?

Literally NO ONE CARES is your white black Asian Mexican etc. There are good scripts and there are bad scripts I remember seeing a version of Othello with Lawrence Fishburne and Lawrence Fishburne was amazing. I love the Friday movies I frankly don’t care if you have a Sith character who is black, Lando Calrissian was a bad ass. As far as Black people in Lord of the rings again don’t care the reviews I’ve seen a terrible and it’s not because there’s black actors in it it’s because they try to make it woke.

Issue here is not what are you’re a black after white actor etc The issue is you’re trying to add wokeness into a Tv show or film nobody cares if the actor is black or white we care about the storyline we care about the action behind it we don’t care if you have a modern day version of Macbeth and Macbeth and Lady MacBeth are played by two black actors are they good at the role? Macbeth is already a Great story. There are some times race matters like the play Othello but for the most part no one cares about skin color

I understand this criticism, but this is the same weak position that conservatives have fought from for the past two decades- and lost nearly everything.

Acting indifferent; acting tolerant, etc. has given the left full authority to introduce all manner of "woke" garbage into our world. Then "conservatives" are handicap in their criticism, as they must then avoid saying anything that may be construed as racist/ sexist, etc... Yet, the Left will invariably STILL call them that, and conservatives will shut up until the Left drags us ever closer to the abyss.

Listen, I like my own (white) race. I want white people (people who look like me) to be our leaders. I want to have movies/ shows to have my people in it, because it's OUR story, for us. I want statues of the white Christians who created this country to be shown, not torn town in exchange for garbage- blacks have nothing to offer us.

So are you saying that we shouldn’t admire people like Clarence Thomas or Martin Luther King or the Tuskegee airmen how about the black stand went over to Europe who were Americans to fight in World War I because Woodrow Wilson who was a Democrat and a racist decided that Black people in or not allowed in the army so they went over to Europe to fight for a cause they thought was right and came home to United States at least most of the did to be less free than they were in Europe because they loved the United States.

You have Booker T Washington the first black man ever is to step foot in the old office and to have dinner with a president that was back during Teddy Roosevelt‘s time.

Honestly I don’t blame you for admiring the John Wayne cowboy or the Vin Diesel badass who drives cars but this is my point is nobody cares about race why should race matter it doesn’t there are good and bad figures of all races there are good and bad figures that we as humans should try to emulate regardless of their skin color. They're not my people, and not my heroes. I can appreciate Clarence Thomas'' opinions, but a conservative white judge could have done the same (without the Tokenism). I'm also sick of inflating their contributions, because they're black. Like we're forced to make them larger than life, as a precondition to unity. Candace Owens, Ben Carson, John James etc. don't have anything original to contribute, but they're black and conservatives pander to them so they don't get called "racist."

They can be the heroes of black people, but their contributions were almost entirely for their own race, not mine. Martin Luther King's "dream" resulted in blacks getting preference in nearly every setting (I work in HR- and have spent nearly a decade in higher-ed; so, don't tell me they don't)- while history is reimagined as "white people bad."

I've thought long and hard about what I believe, and you're wrong: everyone cares about race, except white people- as we're taught, and pressured not to. Simply look at how every other group acts, celebrates, identifies, etc. and you'll discard the foolish notion that race doesn't matter to anyone. I'm sick of pretending, and it's high time my people truly woke up.

Movies should be historically accurate. Yea, years back there were lots of good movies with black actors, some of my favorities were black actors. But hollywood is wokism and they will produce junk. I'd wonder if there are regulations in place to require hiring so many people of color, but don't know. Affirmative action in place? Greater payouts at the box office if have black people? We all know a movie can make money even if it's garbage, so they produce whatever...

I turned off hollywood, it's a trash generator.

What to be concerned about is people who put their kids or spouses in front of netflix or movies... they are being brain washed.. as I was as a kid, but much worse content.

THANK YOU!!! There are many shows I like that feature people of color in lead roles. And I don't like or dislike a show because of the actors' races, it's because I'm either interested in the story or I'm not. 😂

Right I love Kevin heart movies because he’s funny he’s a great actor and comedian. I hate Keanu Reaves movies (that being said I did like Bill and Ted) matrix is good but ima have to rewatch them as an adult. But Constantine was terrible. Matt Ryan plays a way way (1 billion years later think SpongeBob) better Constantine. And 47 ronin was a great story Keanu Reeves made the movie terrible. Last Samurai was way better. Tom Cruz is a better actor. And that’s me complaining about a white guy (sorry wanted to go into a Keanu Reeves is a terrible actor in the question but I didn’t think it was appropriate but you’re my victim I’m sorry)

This is how Nick Fury used to look like. But nobody cares they changed his skin colour. Why? Because Samuel L Jackson is a good actor, and he got this role, because he is a good actor, not because he is black.

Another example: nobody complains that Morgan Freeman played God in "Bruce Almighty". Why? Because Morgan Freeman is a good actor, and he got this role because he is a good actor, not because he is black

There is a difference in adding black/Asian character if he/she is a good actor and would add something to the movie, and only adding a black/Asian character, because of their skin colour.

Hmm, you mean strong black characters are actually just strong characters who happen to be black. Least that's what it used to be. Now it seems like were forcibly told every story has to have a strong black character. What makes a character strong isn't from people telling you they need to be, they just are.

I do not care about the skin colour of the actors, but whether they can sell the role so I invest in it, I can see Lawrence Fishburne doing Othello and really getting into the role.
Anthony Hopkins, James Earl Jones, Orson Welles, Patrick Stewart, Richard Burton, Laurence Olivier, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Mekhi Phifer, Raúl Juliá, Cyril Nri, Lenny Henry, Avery Brooks, have all played the roll and each was an individual and unique performance.
