Why do all planets in science-fiction movies have Earth gravity?

For example in Star Wars: on all planets characters move like on Earth, while on some they should be jumping like on the Moon and on some they should be pressed to the ground.

I understand in episodes 4-6 in 80s there was no technology for this, but it's lame that in newer movies it's still the same

Realistically speaking, a planet capable of supporting life as we know it would have to be almost identical to Earth in terms of size and distance from its sun, which means gravity on that planet would be very similar. The more ridiculous trend in Star Wars is that entire planets have the same climate from pole to pole, which would never happen; really just about every planet would have to be Earth-like, or terraformed. Also the floating cities in the atmospheres of gas giants should have a glass dome around them or something because there's no way that would be breathable atmosphere.

What about f. e. Mustafar in Star Wars. It is said to be 3 times smaller than Earth, so one should jump like on a Moon there?

About all planets having the same climate - I mostly agree, but the prequel trilogy tried to do something with this, especially when it comes to Naboo, which is quite diverse - it has meadows, forests, mountains, lakes, swamps, the entire civilization living underwater, next to humans. I appreciate it.

well... ideally, the Earth's gravity is best for life

so it would only make sense that all those alien civilizations would have picked a planet with Earth like gravity... they would want to make things easier for themselves not harder lmao, right?

Because it's hard as fuck as it is, to script and film a movie with all it's special effects, locations, languages and costumes - without adding gravity and time to it as well.

None of these script writers are scientists, engineers or astronomers. They are storytellers and entertainers.

They have Earth gravity, earth atmospheres, humanoid creatures, explosions make noises in the vacuum of space, people exceed the speed of light and some absurdities go the other way. In Star Trek, people still use clipboards hundreds of years into the future.

Exceeding the speed of light is some convention, that is allowed, the same with Force, but this is simple physician law, that could be fixed.

I love Sci-Fi, but there is a lot of silliness that people have to suspend their brains to accept, like nearly everyone everywhere speaking English in Stargate or the extreme gravity of the planet Xelaya in The Orville having people who look like humans including height and body shape with only 20% denser bones on a planet where humans would flatten like a pancake without special suits.

And earth's atmosphere and temperature. I mean look at the Planet Mustafar where Anakin and Obi-wan dueled. Do you really think a mostly molten lava world would have a breathable atmosphere let alone a hospitable temperature.

Most of the planets introduced in the newer movies have the same general size as Earth. Tatooine is bigger, but it was introduced with earthlike gravity in Episode 4.

I know Coruscant is said to be similar in size to Earth, but f. e. Mustafar is the size of the Moon. Obi-Wan and Anakin should jump way higher there, during their duel.

Maybe the lava has an effect. I'm not 100% sure how molten rock can affect gravity.
