How do you feel about a black Little Mermaid?

Everyone knows The Little Mermaid was a white girl so now they are making a live action little mermaid with a black Ariel. Yet Disney needs to use the same idea and make her black. Is there a reason why they made her black?

They should have made her color white... If they changed a original characters skin from black to white there would be an up roar but if it's white to black no problem...

I absolutely love it for the little girls finally seeing themselves in their favorite Disney princess. The reaction videos make me cry with joy for them every time. And for the small amount of unhappy individuals out there laser focused on her skin color — the little mermaid is not a documentary. Ariel is a fish person, and her dad is the king of the ocean who carries a fork lol. There’s a witch with octopus legs and sea creatures playing instruments for goodness sake. Ariel could be purple and it would take nothing away from the film.

The fact you can't identify as someone of different skin colour doesn;t mean others can't identify with someone of different skin colour.

When I was watching Star Wars as a kid, I never had troubles with identifying with Lando. I didn't really care about his skin colour.

I could care less about the little mermaid being black. What I'm not a fan of is the reasoning behind doing it in the first place. The directors think it'll expose racism thinking it'll give them reason to bash white people like they continue to do. I wouldn't be surprised if the movie mentions white privilege and other leftist propaganda bullshit.

To be honest, redhead kids get picked on and called "Gingers" in school. It's probably just as important to the little redhead girls that the little mermaid look like them so they have something to feel proud about as well.

They grow up getting teased about their hair, white skin, and freckles. I guess it's understandable if they can be touchy sometimes. At least they had "HAD" the little mermaid to help them feel represented.
