Would ever try virtual reality?

I tried it for the first time today. My wife and a friend brought me to the techno salon to get me out of the house and make me take a load off for a morning.

We tried those new VR visors, more specifically some basic landscapes - night in Paris, the Moon surface and a tropical island. I was surprised because our visors were connected so we could experience the landscapes together. I was really impressed by the island and we could explore it quite a bit and there were fishes too in the water. There was even a shark and I admit that scared me a bit!

I had to sit and drink some water afterwards because I felt a little sick, but the experience was absolutely breath taking.

I might try it for certain things but some things would probably be as scary in VR as in real life (like falling off of a cliff.)

It’s fun to watch the person IN VR because they react with body language…stooping or moving to avoid being hit or lifting their leg or jumping…but there’s nothing near them.😆😆😆

I don't mean to sound bitter, but I'm old enough to remember the promises of "virtual reality" that were tossed around in the 90's, and it saddens me to no end to see it all tossed aside in favor of just strapping a monitor with a TrackIR system to your face, especially in light of the deeper immersion that comes from bring a whole new SENSE into the equation, and did that twenty years ago.
