When people say they hate K-pop, do they mean they just hate the fans, or do they really hate the music too?

Now, while I think we can all agree that K-pop has some of the worst fanbases on Earth, the music itself isn't really all that bad.

Americans generally don't seem to understand that they world is full of different cultures. K-Pop is created by Asian people and it reflects our cultures. K-Pop singers are mostly multulingual and they sing their songs in Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese and some Chinese. YouTube is full of people doing "reaction videos" where they watch Asian music videos and act like they are in pain from the horrible noise and make all kinds of nasty comments about it. Why? People have different musical tastes. I could take the playlist of anyone reading this and make a reaction video to their music that completely trashes it and thousands of people would agree with. Some people apparently like K-Pop outside of asia because when bands like Blackpink come out with a new video, the number of views in the 1st week sometimes reach over a billion.

Asian music is pretty cool! Most people like kpop now I think but I liked it before it was popular.

It's the fans. They are just too extreme. I'm a k-pop fan myself and I can say the majority are obsessive and toxic fans.

@Emii_Urashima i know right, like there are bunch of sasengs sexualising, obsessing, and doing inappropriate stuffs to the idols. One should understand barriers between fan and idol.

I dislike the music and aesthetic, like to me it’s too “perfect” or like specifically manufactured. And just the Type of music, it’s not interesting for my ears to eat. Like with some metal musics, the physical structure of the music is just more interesting for me to listen to. With K-Pop, the landscape the music creates is too regular and predictable. Like with a Gojira song, you can listen to it 50 times and hear new interactions happening between the instruments and vocals, but in K-Pop, it’s super regular and there’s more emphasis on choreography (which like, I get it’s impressive and shit) but I’m more into the more complex music

The music is annoying (like almost all hip-hop/pop music) but the psychotic, cult-like fanbase is what sets kpop apart from other genres in the US.
