Why are they remaking resident evil 4?

Remaking a video game isn't like remaking a movie; as hesitant as people may be to dive in to an old, fast-talking, black and a white film, they'll be a LOT more reluctant to dive into an old game- and if it's a console title, they may not even easily be ABLE to; you can buy Citizen Kane on misspelled blue-ray, but it takes effort to even FIND a Gamecube these days.

Add to that the fierce- and I mean FIERCE- and lasting loyalty that a well-loved game gets, and it's not hard to see why people think remaking one (which, to my understanding, RE4 is) will get you lots of money, if not loads of acclaim.

They've been remaking the rest of the early installments; RE4 is simply next on the list.

It's just a way to sell more product, and introduce the story to younger players, who might consider the original titles to be outdated.

I agree; the original was fantastic, but I don't see anything wrong with them remaking it.

It's a cash grab. It's probably also going to be shorter than it used to be and really sh*tty, like RE3make was.

And regarding the other response you made on here, I really liked RE5, but RE6 was literally unplayable for me and one of the worst games I ever wasted $20 on. It was too hard, even on easy mode, and its story was abysmal.

RE5 is good, but it is more of an action game.

I agree, but I've never found Resident Evil to be a scary franchise to begin with, so it didn't bother me. Silent Hill and Eternal Darkness are true survival horror games, even if RE kinda invented the genre. (And yes, I saw the Silent Hill announcements.)

Theyve been remaking all the resident evils and having it on modern consoles with modern graphics is ideal, at least its really an older game and not like TLOU part 1
