If you're simply watching a stream of unlicensed content, you're not technically breaking the law. Where it becomes a crime is if you download the movie or show, or host a stream yourself

Some are legal, like Youtube or Netflix.

Some are illegal, even when you are "just watching online", as you still need to download a temporary file to watch.

If you are just watching it and not downloading and saving it, and are in the USA, then you are PROBABLY safe for now because of the wording of the copyright laws.
