How do you write good hulk story?

I only have mediocre movies to go off of, and I dont read comic books much not because I am not interested or dont care, I am really interested in comic book lore and storyline and itmelines, its just hte way they look kinda bothers me.

So I just wanna know a good formula for a hulk movie or storyline. he's one of those more complex superhero characters that can end up in a mediocre movie.

Now that I think of it, the trilogy I just read (The Scholomance) was basically a really good Hulk story.

The very first thing you must do is come up with a compelling reason why they should not "hulk out." In The Sholomance, it was because the main character could, on instinct, accidently drain the life force from people and use it to cast spells of mass destruction, irreversibly becoming the most powerful dark sorceress ever. However, she had basically a saint as a mother who pretty much wore herself down to the bone teaching her why "hulking out" was such a terrible idea. And such was the premise of the story, in which otherwise common occurences (well, common for the others in the story) that would make anyone wish desperately that their anger made them powerful keep coming up, but she finds other ways to deal with them. Sometimes luck. Sometimes thought. But then when she finally does hulk out it's calculated and intentional so that she can back out of it.

Anyway, that's just one idea.

I wanted to not repeat the same stories that was already told in The Hulk and The Incredible Hulk, but I want him to use his powers for good. This is kinda tricky to not repeat The Incredible Hulk because that movie sets him as a hero, going from anti hero to hero over the course of that film.

So, Bruce Banner's dad knows that when his son finishes puberty he will become the hulk. How he knows is up to you but it should be clear that he didn't want that to happen. So, throughout all of Bruce's childhood his dad basically tries to teach him to want to control his anger. Before the age of 5 or so he isn't that strict but after that he starts buying pets and every time Bruce loses his temper, his dad secretly kills the pet and tosses it in among the ruins so Bruce feels bad. He lose a mouse and a cat to this before he decides he wants to learn to manage his anger. And so that happens. As he gets near the end of puberty he has a dog. However, he loses his temper again. The dad can't bring himself to kill the dog so he kills himself instead (he had cancer or something anyway). However, he leaves a recording that he recorded when Bruce was born explaining this whole ploy and why. This is given to Bruce on his 20th birthday, but of course the intended sequence was mouse, cat, dog, father. So, when Bruce finally reaches the end of puberty at 21 or so he can kind of feel the change and sets out with his dog. Naturally, the son of a russian mob boss kills his dog. and takes his car.

But Bruce knows he will hurt people if he loses his temper and so just tries to talk to get some justice (he was planning to go to school for being a lawyer or something useful for this before his dad died). But they don't want to bring the boss's son to justice and it turns out the police are deathly afraid of the boss so they find it's easier to just put Bruce in jail. But he knows that if he pushes it they will push back to hide that they are afraid, so he quietly drops it and tries to figure out some other way to go about it. He knows he can't be reckless because if anyone ever threatens his life he might hulk out. In the end, somehow (taking up most of the story), he succeeds in getting some form of justice but after all that he loses his temper for something innocuous. He doesn't turn into the hulk. Turns out his dad was delusional all along.

I like the dad part I'd like to explore an origin story again possibly but not to gloss over the whole film, something like batman or the new batman movie where you have some of the origin and it comes up but its not all the way. I like having his dad in the movie again but again I dont wanna repeat the Hulk 2003. This is kinda similar to man of steel except jonathan kent is not abusive and hulks father is. I think maybe these could be told in flashbacks throughout the first 45 minutes to 1 hour of the film and you get to know more about the father in further flashbacks.

My original plan was to have him try to figure out how to control his powers for good, have the military apprehend him, have half life escape from alcatraz, have emil blonsky be an antihero super soldier and get tragically fall from grace at the hands of half life manipulation, and then they both go after the hulk and terrorize people and he figures out how to control his powers and saves people from them.

Emil Blonsky transforms into The Abomination. Half Life uses him as the muscle, but Half Life is the Mastermind.

Is there a way we can combine your story with mine? I feel like we could, but it would be really long, like 2 and a half hours.

I think his teenage years should be your story the first half and my story is the second half when he's 18-22.

The story could be told in many different orders. he's a teenager for about 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes, we go back sometimes, maybe he has PTSD and forgets the past and that could be a plot point, the more he remembers the past the more he can control the Hulk.

The inherent problem with the idea of “Hulk” movies is that Bruce Banner and his damnation are out of reach of the privileged elites writing, directing and producing movies in Hollywood. You have to have enough money to buy the rights for a Marvel product AND the balls to make an essentially independent film. There are plenty of quality Hulk storylines to do. “Thor” Gagonkok was originally a Hulk story and proved to be the MOST profitable Thor story in the MCU, by a HUGE margin. And they insist there are no profitable “Hulk” storylines. Fuck those useless, money-grubbing assholes.

I agree, some characters like Hulk, Dr. Srrange, Iron Man can have really good stories and unfortanetely they keep failing them

Just because I considered his movies mediocre doesn't mean I dont like the character.
