How to create original stories with characters with original histories knowing they will attack and disturb anyway?

I'll give an imaginary example, I'll create a story based on African mythology. The story is about a boy who dies of cancer and is resurrected by an Orisha (an African god) in a universe/dimension full of magic, gods, monsters, etc. All human beings in this universe are black, the mythology is based on African mythology.

The question is, how likely am I to be attacked by those people who say "woke" to anything that has black characters as main characters? How likely are I to be attacked by Christians for creating a story based on African gods, as Christians always say they are demons?

How likely are people who say the problem isn't the character being black but the lack of originality to be hypocrites and attack me?
