When you got your first steady job, what'd you blow your first paycheck on?

For me, it was a bunch of albums I'd wanted for a long time. Plus, I just wanted to know what it was like to blow a huge wad an a big stack of albums in one shot!
I'm not sure I remember all of the ones I bought but I clearly recall that I bought at least the first 3 albums by Queen (already had the 4th) and their 5th, and the first 4 by Chicago!
Up to that point in time I was scraping together as much of my school lunch money together to buy at least one record a week.

For me, it was on work clothes that I could wear to my new job. Other than that, I don’t typically blow money on things.
I think my biggest nonneccessity would be perfume, which I only buy when I can.

I don't either, really. Sometimes I'll splurge a bit and I'll usually buy myself a rather expensive b-day or Christmas present that nobody else would think to get me or could afford. One year, I bought myself a 5-string Steinberger
Anyway, with that first paycheck, it was just the idea that I FINALLY had a loot of money in my pocket and it was a big thrill for me to go to a record store and blow a wad on a stack of albums! I've had plenty of other wads of dough in my pocket and still never did that again.

LL bean boots still have them and wear every winter. They are the black shearling I think about 10 or 12 inches high

Never had a job. Never have. Wished I have. It’s easier said then done. No I’m not a leftist. I’m very conservative. But it’s hard sometimes. Life is tough.

I know! I've been trying to find a job most of my life! About the only ones I've ever had were very short-lived temp jobs! I figure I've had at least 63 different jobs! Only 3 or 4 panned out into something that was more than a year long and only 2 were steady full time jobs but, even those never lasted much more than a year! It's been at least 3 years since I've had ANY kind of a job!

That sucks. I want to go into law enforcement maybe military. But…. I don’t know if that is realistic at this point. I could probably be a cop in a bigger city. Then do part time in a small town. I don’t think that would burn me out.

I am told. Not to do too many police jobs at once or you wil quickly be burnt out and I agree. But if I work part time in a small town where not much is going on it wouldn’t be that bad.

Maybe also work part time as a school bus driver and become a substitute teacher later on too.

Especially with the work schedule of a cop. It would be reasonable to have a part time job like that.

I've always wanted to get work in a record store, record pressing plant or radio station and, so far, I've had a couple very short-lived record store gigs. (A couple weeks here, a few days there.) Apparently they're not interested in hiring someone like me that knows their shit when it comes to records, they'd rather hire someone that only sees the job as a way put money in their pockets and would no problem quitting if something better came along!
I've had a few cops in my family. dad's cousin, that guy's dad, my aunt, and I THINK MY cousin did a small bit of copping for a while. Dad's cousin eventually became the chief before he retired.

Not sure why they would do that. But that’s cool. I have had a few cops in my family. Most distant family.

Though my mother is a civilian employee but not technically a sworn officer.

My aunt didn't do any actual policing, she just worked in the radio room but still had to wear a cop uniform.

Oh I see. Was she a sworn officer though? My mother isn’t actually a sworn officer. Sometimes employees behind a desk can be civilians and other times they’re sworn officers.
