Do you think roles should be recast if the prior actor has passed away?

For example If The Dark Knight raises hadn't finished film when Heath Leadger died should his role as Jiker be recast to someone else.

I think it’s timing, how they died, the makeup used, whether they can have convincing digital effects done… what the movie is about… my opinion on replacing actors, either with CG doubles… depends on a lot of factors…


I wanted to keep this short, though, so if you want, I’d be happy to give some examples of good replacements, either with CG or using new actors to replace fired ones (or those who die), as well as some examples of bad ones, but otherwise, I’m just leaving you with the basics.
