Did you like the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) movies?

With James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy) being hired at Warner Bros and overseeing the reboot of the DC movie universe, the Zack Snyder DC Extended Universe is finally coming to an end. And while Zack Snyder is responsible for the creative side of those movies, most of the blame is still on the now-fired DC executives who had no idea what they were doing and pushed for movies that no one wanted, that often had woke political agendas and messaging in them (much like what Marvel is doing right now and has been with Phase 4.)

With that said, some people still liked Zack Snyder's vision of the DC universe with Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. I am definitely not one of those people. But are you?

Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, Justice League, Aquaman, Shazam!, Birds of Prey, Wonder Woman 1984, THE Suicide Squad, Peacemaker (TV), Black Adam, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, The Flash, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

While I don't know how well James Gunn will do with this hard reboot of the DC movie universe, I for one welcome it with open arms. I've always HATED Zack Snyder's DC movies. They were abominations. In my opinion, Ben Affleck was, and still IS, an absolutely HORRIBLE Batman! One of the worst ones out there, not that any of them have been good or comic-accurate, in my opinion. And I didn't like Gal Gadot and her awful accent and stiff acting as Wonder Woman, either.

The only true loss with the DCEU is Henry Cavill as Superman. Cavill is literally the only thing I'd salvage rom the DCEU. While it does kinda suck he's not returning, Superman isn't that hard of a character to play and I'm sure other, younger, far cheaper actors out there can do just as good of a job as Cavill.

All I want is for DC movies to no longer suck, and I've been waiting ten years for them to FINALLY reboot this Zack Snyder dumpster fire that is the DCEU.

Yes, I liked most the DCEU movies.

No, I disliked/hated the DCEU, or only liked a few standout movies.

Never watched them, never cared / I don't care about superhero movies.

Well let's see..

Man of Steele- I thought it was a decent movie, but not a good Superman movie at all.. I don't think Superman is hard to play, but I think switching between Clark Kent and Superman will take a pretty good actor.. Overall I enjoy the movie mostly for the fight scenes, but it's too dark and "gritty" for a Superman movie..

Batman V Superman- The movie is a damn mess.. It didn't make sense to have a seasoned Middle aged Batman already killing, with a relatively young Superman and Wonderwoman.. At least not starting the Justice League at that age.. But I could overlook that cause there were a lot of good storyline they could've done with it. But they still made Superman a non smiling Jesus-like figure who let people die and even killed some.. And Jessie Eisenburgs Lex Luthor was goofy..

Suicide Squad- It's a mess of a movie, and not a good one, but I enjoyed it for what it was.. Especially the last part.. I wish they at least kept Diablo.. I didn't see the second one

Justice League- The Joss Whedon version is straight ass.. From the lighting to the soundtrack to the lame villain in Steppenwolf.. I didn't get to see the Zack Snyder version yet, I don't know if I ever will watch it.. I heard good things about it though..

Shazam- It was kinda cheesy, especially towards the later half.. I feel like there was a lot of wasted potential there.. But it wasn't bad.. I sort of enjoyed it..

I think those are all the DCEU movies I ever saw.. So, I don't know how to feel overall about those that I seen except "meh".. I could have never seen them and not missed much. It's too bad about Cavills Superman.. I would have loved to see him played the correct iteration.. Plus, he's the most Superman-esque looking actor play him so far.. But there's other guys out there.. James Gunn is a good creative director, I just hope they ain't giving him too much power.

I agree with almost everything you said here.
Zack Snyder's Justice League didn't add much to the overall movie except some better CGI and Darkseid. I still thought it was trash, but it improves some things and makes some things worse. The first Justice League was like a 4/10, and this boosts it up to maybe a 6/10 at best.

Aquaman would've been a good superhero movie in the mid 90s directed by John Woo a la "Face Off," as it's very campy by today's standards. I don't think anyone under 30 would like it, but those who grew up with movies like Speed, Con Air, and The Rock would. It's that goofy; almost like it's a parody or tongue-in-cheek. If you don't take it seriously, it's quite enjoyable. But I can't call it a "good" movie.

Joker was good, but it's also just Taxi Driver.

I didn't hate the first Suicide Squad, but I can admit its a bad movie. The second one is technically a better movie and far more competent, but I didn't like it either. The first one is poorly made, but doesn't take itself too seriously. The second one is far better made, but isn't as charming or memorable. This probably is due to the characters; the characters/actors in the second one are worse; not that any of them are "good."

The only "good" DC movies I can say, are Wonder Woman, Shazam, and MAYBE The Suicide Squad (second one.) And "Joker" is a stand-alone movie not in the same universe. I still hate Batfleck to this day and how much he sucks in the role, but "The Batman" from early 2022 was a garbage movie, too. Both are ass-versions of Batman and I'd rather watch Batman and Robin than Batman v Superman or The Batman, again.

You know i gotta jump on in. @jdavid25 i still dont get the Cavill is an awesome superman thing but ok. 😂 Justice League was the only time i liked him. The only good thing about Batman vs Superman was Wonderwoman. And Jesse was a horrible choice for lex. Suicide squad 1 was awful and you wanted to keep crazy ass diablo of all people? Lmao why? I feel Jared deserved a joker film because that joker film we got was trash. If only Heath didn't pass away. I still loved Justice League and i actually loved seeing Steppenwolf smack the shit out those amazonians and their horses 😂 I haven't seen Zack Snyders Justice League or whichever the “remake” version of it was. @mcheetah I personally loved speed 2 more than 1 (yea i said it) and i loved con air but Aquaman didn't even compare. It was boring. His hotness was the only thing that kept me seated for half the film then i left. can't believe you liked that joker film. He was fckin nutty and a creep. I hate you feel the 2nd suicide squad wasn't memorable. Its so awesome to me and i’ve seen it like 4 times. Peacemaker was like the only thing i disliked in it and the spots dude and mouse girl were cringey. But that film was funny while the first was a try hard and dry af even with whimpyass will smith cryin as usual. The first i barely got through one time. It was just awful and i wanted Amanda Waller to just die already. I didn't like seeing her in either suicide squad nor birds of prey. I honestly dont like viola in any movie. Aw yeah I did see Aquaman.. I was pretty sleepy typing this.. But looking back at first I thought it was okay, but the more time passes the more I actually realized how much I enjoyed the movie.. Jason Momoa is a silly Aquaman, but he's kinda like "The Rock" Johnson at this point to me.. With slightly better acting skills.

I seen the Joker too,. but I decided not to include it in the DCEU.. I definitely see the Taxi comparison.. Taxi is one of my favorite movies, that and Kings of Comedy.. so I guess I didn't mind it too much.. I loved the scene where he was on the talk show.. It was a reference to the "The Dark Knight Returns"..

I could see that.. From what I seen I would probably agree with your assessment of both Suicide Squad movies.. I'll watch it one day..

I also seen Wonder Woman and I thought it was good, I enjoyed it.. I thought it was a bit overhyped though.. I didn't see 1984 though.. I heard it was hot garbage though.. Haha.. And I could see Batfleck.. I think if Ben Affleck got to direct his own movie on it, he could've fleshed Batfleck out.. I loved his physicality though..
As for "The Batman".. Oof this is the only one I gotta disagree on.. I think it's one of the best "DCEU" movies in my opinion.. Even though it's really not a DCEU movie.. I just hope they expound more on Bruce Wayne in the second one.. But I could see how it could be hit or miss..

Zack Snyder is a good cinematographer, but is horrible with storytelling. Extremely childish and amateur. It's why all his DC movie sucked so much, but why he can make 300 and Watchmen look so good: He didn't write either one of those. He also only has one tone: dark, gritty, and serious, which is also why his Superman movie sucked so much. As you said, if it wasn't Superman, it'd be a good movie, but it's a betrayal to his character to make Superman dark and gritty.

And yeah, Aquaman is completely campy, like I said. It's not a well written movie at all, but it is an entertaining popcorn flick, which is the best you could ever hope for with a character like Aquaman, who the mainstream public has never taken seriously. So I think that was the smartest thing they could've done with him, other than making the movie an outright comedy like Shazam! was.

Yeah, I really liked Joker as a movie, but like the rest of the DCEU, he's not an accurate depiction of the actual character. Just like no one in the Nolan trilogy were accurate; Bale is a skinny, short, too-serious, too-dumb Batman, and Heath Ledger is NOTHING like The Joker whatsoever. They were good movies for what they were, but very off from how Batman is supposed to be. I at least see the appeal of them, unlike normies with Ben Affleck as Batman. In all his DC movies, Ben Affleck just looks and sounds like Ben Affleck. I could 100% kick his ass in real life; how is anyone buying HIM of all people as Batman? Let alone a seasoned, middle-aged Batman? He's just Ben Affleck. And yeah, somehow, Robert Pattinson was even WORSE than Affleck! I'm glad they're not making a second The Batman. Pattinson was too difficult to work with and the movie didn't make enough money.

... But yeah, everyone but Cavill sucked in the Snderverse, to me. Cavill is a great Superman, but all of his movies have been so bad, that some people can't see that. If given the right material, he'd shine. But I get James Gunn just wanting to do a hard reboot, including ditching him as well. I've been wanting the DCEU to reboot since Man of Steel ended and Batman v Superman was announced.

Wonder Woman is decent on its own, but it's also just a weaker version of Captain America: The First Avenger, which was far better, but Marvel fans sleep on. Plus, that third act with Ares sucked. Wonder Woman '84 would've been a better movie with a minor DC character no one cares about, but for Wonder Woman, it was a major step downward. I didn't hate it at all, but it's so poorly written, I can see why everyone does hate it. It's got like five plots going on at once, and most of them don't connect until later on. Diana and Steve, Diana and Barbara, Maxwell Lord and his son, Maxwell Lord and Barbara, and so on... The script was a mess, which is why Patty Jenkins isn't returning for part 3. That and she's a nightmare to work with.

Ben affleck always sucked at acting so him being a sucky batman wasn't shocking. And afflecks attitude is disgusting in general. He and jlo both have an ugly attitude despite how hot they are. Bale was hot but dull and looney (irl). Robert Pattinsons acting in movies outside of Twilight and Batman is actually nice. He has personality for once unlike that dull kristen stewart he was with. Henry has personality but im just not a fan of him as a superhero. He did good in this one movie i saw with him and a little boy and a crazy lady but i forgot what it was called. Watchmen was terrible despite the amazing sin city graphics. Captain america winter soldier and civil war were great but his first film is forgettable after he comes out the chamber lookin hot. Just another aquaman film in my opinion.

And I agree about Jessie of course.. I don't know what the casting director and Snyder was thinking.. And I agree on Superman with Justice League.. The DCEU Superman is not likable.. And yeah Diablo was awesome.. 😂😂.. Plus he was one of the most powerful members.. Jared's Joker was sweaty, stinky, dookie filled ass.. Maybe not totally Jared's fault, but Joaquin Phoenix's Joker was great.. He gave Heath a run for his money.. LOL.. Cameron The Gotham series was another great Joker.. I love Superman in cartoon movies/shows but even watching Smallville back, i realize that all liveaction supermen (outside of maybe Christopher reeve) are straight assholes. Superman is just not a fave hero of mine anymore. Yep i liked Speed 2 more 😂 tbh, only Keanu films im crazy about is Point Break, Hardball and Chain Reaction. And all of those are mainly for the supporting cast. He just doesn't do it for me. And his bottom teeth are distracting. I enjoyed Day After Tomorrows disasters as well and own all the films above on dvd, but the film was too much talk for me. 2012 had more action to me. In the Heart of the sea was amazing! My dream casting would've been 2008-2011 Jon Hamm as Bruce Wayne/Batman and 2008-2011 Willem DaFoe as The Joker. Now THEY both look and act the part! They're both too old now, though.









We'll likely never get a good on-screen Superman or Batman again. I don't have that much faith in James Gunn; I just think he'll suck less than the Snyderverse.

I did, for the most part. If I'm to be completely honest, I think Man of Steel was the best out of all of them. And yes, I like Henry Cavill a lot in to role.

That said, the DCEU still should have waited a bit. They tried way too hard to catch up to the MCU, when all they had to do was wait until the MCU 1) ran its course and overstayed its welcome and 2) became super woke and intolerable and collapsed under the weight of its own desperate stupidity.

Yes, I liked the DCEU movies for the most part. But I'm also interested to see what becomes of the new efforts.

I found all the Superman films boring. He was only ever my fave superhero because of the Smallville tv show. I was never a live action batman fan ever. His voice is cringey no matter who plays him. I only like his cartoon shows/movies with Superman or Justice League. The first Suicide Squad was almost unwatchable but the reboot was amaaaazing. Wonder Womans slide seens were cool and the Amazonian scenes were beautiful especially at the beginning of 1984 but her films were kinda boring. I preferred her in cartoon mode as well. Justice League took 3 watches to enjoy but it was better than the first 4 Avenger films. Endgame was the only good one. , Aquaman was hot but boring. didn't even finish. Shazam was adorable with the kids scenes but the adult version was cringey and not funny. I’ll watch the sequel for the other adults. Birds of Prey was good. Wonder Woman 1984 was almost unwatchable aside from the amazing beginning., John Cena is cringey. I loved him in the Marine and 12 Rounds but he's not funny, so i won't be watchin Peacemaker. The Rock annoys me but i want to see Black Adam. I like The Flash tv show but its played out. I dont want to see Ezra as flash at all. he's cringey.

I did not like many of the DC movies. I have no idea what they are trying to do. Maybe they are trying to be different from the Marvel movies so instead of being good they end up being really bad. Justice League could have been a great movie but instead they had a lame villain and an implausible plotline. I think Ben Affleck is the best Batman and was disappointed he did not want to return as the caped crusader. The first Wonder Woman movie was pretty good but the second one was just silly. How hard would it be to just tell a story about good VS evil?

I hope they can find somebody who can right the ship.
