Chess or checkers?

Personally I prefer chess

They're both good, but chess tends to degrade, far too often, into simple pattern memorization and recognition, so I tend to fall into mixing things up, to disrupt that and make people actually think. Fischerrandom does that, but I'm more prone to simply replacing half the chess pieces with checkers, and playing that way. It's faster, it's easier (since you probably have checkers, if you have a chessboard), and the different capture rules and movement rulesets throw off the memorization folks WAY more than they do normal people, so it's a quick test of how mentally agile someone is.
