For the drummers out there? Are these drums hard to learn in this song for a beginner?

My brother who is a more experienced drummer was trying to teach me these drums and it annoying me a little because I could just tell it's too hard for me. I hate how he always tries to teach me intermediate shit when I'm supposed to be learning beginner shit. It discourages the shit out of me and I don't enjoy drumming when I can't pick up a hard fucking beat that I'm not supposed to be learning right now.

I’d say it’s a pretty intermediate song, at least… it sounds “easier” than it is.

The first song I learned and completely self-taught myself was Empty Apartment by Yellowcard…

It’s quite simple, with some nice dynamics, and you’ll move around the kit a bit with some basic fills and cymbals too… Breakdown the beats and play them slow if you have to… you’ll see how your kicks sync right up with your hi-hat/cymbals hand and the snare falls on the 2 and 4…

It was a great song for me to see how all of your hands and feet work together and sync up to drive the beat. But it remains a fun song to this day. Lots of nice little stuff sprinkled in… but first, focus on the timing. Don’t rush your fills, and then from there, you can start “feeling” out the song a bit better.
