Have you ever cried over a fictional character? Have you ever done so twice? Ell oh ell!

Sure.
One of the most monumental moments in television history was on "Archie Bunker's Place", the renamed version of "All In The Family", when Archie Bunker finally breaks down and grieves over the loss of his wife Edith who all of America came to know and love. The actress, Jean Stapleton, had wanted to leave the show...

Another classic moment from TV history was, in M*A*S*H, when Lieutenant Colonel Henry Blake (played by Maclean Stevenson who decided to leave the show), heading home from the Korean War, dies. It shocked America. Even almost all of the actors were not told of the ending as they filmed it.
The cast of M*A*S*H didn't learn of Col. Blake's fate until just before the scene was shot
The ending to season three was so earth-shattering to the cast, producers kept it a secret.
Cried? No. But so connected that that emotion is possible? Yes.
I think those are the same shows you mentioned on my question about love stories.
I saw the first episode of “The Newsroom” on a trial offer but never got to watch the entire series. I always have McAvoy’s monologue rant saved somewhere. It’s epic and based on actual statistical facts.
Many times 😅
One of them is Tommy Shelby. He didn't die but there are numerous scenes that brought tears to my eyes lol. Such a good role and Cillian is a great actor.
The other one is Leslie Shay from Chicago Fire. No matter how many times I watched it, the episode in which she dies gets me every time.
Another character that comes to my mind is Wes Gibbins from How to Get Away with Murder. I had a love-hate relationship with him throughout the show. Sometimes I liked him, and other times he annoyed the hell out of me, but his death really hit me.
Did you once ask here about how we value characters like Thomas Shelby?
I'm aware that people don't value characters like him. What I meant by ''good role'' is that the character is well-written and that the acting was good. I didn't try to show Tommy in a good light.
There are certain movies and shows, I refuse to watch with people - because I know I'll cry like a baby. It doesn't take much for me to start shedding tears. The list is way to long to start mentioning.
I've been forced to watch lion king at my job once & I did appreciate the care I got from the kids. 🤣
I can relate.

Omg yes. Wait, no. I thought this was for a movie.
I never cried for anyone in a show. Just seemed different than a movie 🤔.
I mostly watched comedy shows anyhow. I can definitely see the dramas and romance ones getting to ya
You can choose from a movie.
Oh well for sure I sobbed for Todd in ‘Fox and the hound.’
I ugly cried, very quietly, for bambi in ‘Bambi.’
I wailed for Togo and Leonhard at the end of ‘Togo.’ All the way through the entire credits tbh…
And Cruella in ‘Cruella’ as well
Let me just say
I’m probably gonna cry for any character that has their name as the film title 🤘😂😭
Omg so many times! I actually cry more over the characters then people i know in real life. I was gonna list here but its aaaaa looot. I think i’ll make a mytake :)
And Leo and Piper from Charmed are included lol
More than once. SO much drama and they reached deep into my feelings at will. Ell oh ell!
Actually, Cole and Phoebe got me a couple times! Maybe i’m just a sucker.
No i agree! Even stupid prue sad over andy
I never attached to Prue, or Paige. Not as deeply anyway. The episode in which Prue becomes a man to catch a harpy is about as close as i ever got to Prue.
Lmao yea i didn't care for prue. I felt bad for paige when cole made her look crazy for saying he was still evil lol
Just made it. My list is looooong lol
I feel connected to characters more often than I cry. I've cried maybe 2-3 times for a character but since the characters i like the most are usually the ones who dies, I've become used to it.
Which characters?
My fav show always had a way of bringing them back again. So after the first death it was no longer a problem. 😎
Oh wait. They killed off all three of my favs in Third Watch. Same handful of episodes in a row. I stopped watching. 😝
Coward! Or maybe ‘Tease!’. Ell oh ell!
We all want to know your show and favorite characters now, and you know it! Ell oh ell!
Spill the tea!
Maybe I should quiz people. I’ve mentioned it too many times. 🤓
@dustybiker The X Files!
That show was never the same after Sweets died. He brought some humanity to the show.
Anyway- I cried a little after Avengers Endgame. It was sad when Tony Stark died but also it was sad to think that this would be the last movie.
I have done this a few times. For me, this is not so unusual as I tend to be overly sensitive.
Maybe not “overly” sensitive. You are entitled to the full range of human emotions!
Who is a character to whom you felt connected?
The end of Big Fish and the music video to Fly To The Angels. They were so good...😢
all the time lol
Please name a few!
“Dan” from Lucifer, yes!!!
Tortured love almost always gets me.
WILSOOOON!
WILSOOOOONNNNN!!!
I'M SORRY, WILSON!
I'M SORRY!!!
Lmao yes! More than once.
Who?
Eddie, Chrissy and Max
Who dat?
3 characters from Stranger Things. Everyone hated Eddie because he was tied to Chrissy (it’s like when you think of Chrissy you think of Eddie) then Eddie died, Chrissy died before Eddie then Max (I hope she really didn’t) died on the last episode of season 4
Interesting! I dig “Stranger Things” but i didn’t associate any of those names!
Max ain’t dead. I’ll drive to LA and….
MAX AIN’T DEAD!!!
Nope. I never have🤷🏻♂️.
