Speaking of time, I suppose the power could be rapidly aging things 🤔 That could be a good challenge to force a hero to not lose control

That would be cruel, no? I could see that turning a hero into a villain themselves. Power is a tricky thing.

Exactly. That's why it would be interesting. We can look at how a good person can stay a hero despite having that cruel power. Because if we are all honest, no villain ever HAD to become evil. It was a choice, regardless of what happened to them in their lives or what terrible powers they had.

That would be an interesting way to be more realistic with superheroes. Just have them not quite make it in time to save people and show how that's a problem.

The most important aspect of a superhero is the opposite: what makes them vulnerable.

Which is exactly why a disturbing "villain" power would be more compelling for a hero to have than the standard enhanced strength or healing or whatever. Like a hero who can kill anyone he or she makes eye contact with... Imagine how vulnerable that makes him or her in everyday life. Or someone who accidentally siphons life away from anyone near them. The main mistake people make is thinking that the power and what makes them vulnerable have to be different things.
