+1 yI absolutely LOVE theatre, and my brother is dating a beautiful theatrical actress, so I have been getting to see more theatrical productions of late. I grew-up loving movies, but they were more the John Hughes type films from the 1980’s. As my parents are both huge 80’s and very early 90’s film fans. Tuesday and Friday night’s in our home were movie nights, and I very much looked forward to seeing them. Today, sadly everything is either totally woke or a Marvel action movie, or more often now, they’re a woke Marvel action movie! So I would have to go with Theatre over movies.

I really do like theater. I remember going to see many Broadway shows. However, the crowd always seemed a bit stuffy to me, unless it was at a different theater somewhere local. I think I enjoy both. Cinemas are more casula and I like that, but I also love the way actors on the stage can put on a really great show.

+1 yBoth can be GREAT! Because plays are so expensive, it makes GREAT ones harder to come by, whereas with movies it doesn't make too much difference if I see a dud!

Thank you for MHG!
I love both. But if you forced me to choose between the two, I'd choose theatre.

1.2K opinions shared on Entertainment & Arts topic. I prefer movies. I grew up going to drive-in movies and walk-in theaters. I really like films. My wife and I used to go see a movie ever few weeks. But we've only gone out to see one once or twice since the theaters reopened after the covid insanity was imposed.
I watch films my laptop and my wife and I watch Netflix on our TV.
Seeing live plays can be really enjoyable, but I don't go to many.10 ReplyI have a DVD movie collection at home, and I just watch films on my computer. There are no theatres or cinemas within about 50 kms of where I live, so it would be too much of a bother to drive all the way when I can just sit at home.

You are of course 35. Lol I can barely remember DVDs lol

To be fair if you go to anyone's home that's over 30 you will find a wall of nothing but DVDs and CDs and a stero in the corner. My parents still have the VHS, tapes, records, DVD and video player.
+1 yI enjoy both and it's hard to pick, but I would have to choose theater as it takes more skill acting in theater, getting it right every time, than acting in movies, where you can take multiple takes. Also the skill and precision that goes into the stage craft and stage management is fascinating.

+1 yLive theatre is way better, you're actually watching a piece of art taking place, and you're up close and personal with the actors. Plus anything can happen, like actors forgetting their lines or props falling over.
That said, I haven't been in years.

+1 yI’ve been to a few theatres and enjoyed the performance more. Movies are enjoyable, not so much for the entertainment but for the other reasons: privacy, accessibility, pop corn and candy, lower cost, alcohol, diversity of movie choices etc…

+1 yI like them both depending on the event.
Movies are nice cause they’re pretty casual. I haven’t been to the theatre in a while but we recently went to g see Swam Lake the ballet. Not sure if that counts.10 Reply
+1 yIt depends on the mood and occasion to be honest. In a theater there is a cinematic experience and the living room is a comfortable experience. After a long day, I prefer a comfortable experience.
10 ReplyI like more live plays, but intresting once where the cast intract with the audionce that is just a little over a movie as it gives you more to imagen and has more demantions then a movie in the end
10 Reply345 opinions shared on Entertainment & Arts topic. Movies they are greater and especially cheaper. Theater can never compete on either of those scales due to limitations.
10 Reply466 opinions shared on Entertainment & Arts topic. I love both, but choose movies as they don't require the effort to attend that going to the theatre does. If that wasn't an issue, I'd chose theatre.

+1 yTheater! Hands down! I haven’t been to a theater performance in over a year now… but they are so much more fun. Lol!

+1 yIf by theatre you mean live plays, I do enjoy those. Movies, as in films, have the advantage, at home at least, of my being able to pause for interruptions and rewind if I do not quite catch something.

+1 yTheaters used to be fun, but now they've gotten so ridiculously expensive I prefer to just wait 'til they come out on TV or Paper View, unless it's like Bond or Indiana Jones or something.

For experimental movies let's watch them in home theater 🎭
