What’s the best jump scare in a movie?

My nieces and nephews have recently shown interest in watching horror movies/slasher flicks, which is not my typical genre of film. We’ve watched It (2017), Fear Street Trilogy (Netflix), Scream (1996), and I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997).

In my opinion, I Know What You Did Last Summer had the best jump scare out of my list.

What movies do you think have good jump scares?

Probably at the tail end of, "Wait Until Dark". A jump scare is only good when you're not expecting it. In all those slasher movies in the early `80's, you KNOW what's coming long before it comes even if you've never seen it before! No surprise there!!

I’ve read about that movie as a screenplay and I’ve heard it’s unsettling!
I agree with you that you often know what’s coming but the ones that caught me off guard were good.

Oh gosh, that nun is scary!! I don’t think I saw the trailer but I’ll check it out.
One trailer that always creeped me out was for The Strangers. I don’t remember jump scares but I remember turning away from the screen when the trailer was on.

When Rambo comes out of the bushes screaming and puts a hunting knife to Sheriff Will Teasle's throat and says:

1408 when the he’s trying to shout out the window for help across the street and realizes the other guy is him too and someone’s behind him about to attack him.

you just see the point of view of someone riding the lawnmower, but the quality is that of a camera, he's recording, it's night and raining so you only see that camera light and then suddenly the victim appears

I remember “watching” most of Insidious with my eyes closed. The Conjuring had some big scares for me too. The demons and possession type movies are the scariest for me.
