Trending & News Kind of- but these days, it seems like movies are becoming more like games, and games more like movies.
The style is also changing, and not always for the better- compare the in-game environmental storytelling of, say, System Shock 2 (which is what Bioshock was a glammed-up knockoff of) with that of Bioshock: Infinite. Not in quality; that's ultimately more subjective, but in method.
Hmm... now that I type that out, I see I may have to revise my original theory of video game evolution; fundamentally, all modern first-person shooters are descended from four "genetic" lines- but that's in gameplay terms; I stupidly hadn't thought of the storytelling side (I'm not sure why; that's normally the kind of thing I'd think of right off the bat). Thanks for bringing that up to me, if unintentionally.
For a more modern example: compare that of Infinite to, say, Prey ZCC. More and more cutscenes let you convey things far more like a movie would- but you lose out on the strengths of the more interactive medium. By contrast, movies becoming ever faster and more direct and dumbed down doesn't have the same impact- at least not on the art form as a whole. Even something like The Godfather doesn't engage in the same kind of narrative hand-holding that a modern mainstream movie does.
You can argue that a well made game can surpass a film for its capacity to develop characters and storylines since most games are at least a few hours of solid gameplay, if not more. But compared to a running series or even a limited series with a run time similar to playing time, the development is going to be the same or greater for the series. Also, unless a game gives you character and storyline options, gameplay can actually displace your relationship to the characters. Whereas with a show, or even a good movie, you will relate to one or more characters naturally rather than being forced through perspective to relate more to one than the others.

I’m not a big gamer anymore but maybe just movies.
I feel like movies nowadays move too quickly. People have shorter attention spans so they just get straight to the point. They don’t take their time with the story or introducing characters anymore. I love a good character development 🤷♂️
I can’t name any games in particular cause like I said it’s been a minute since I gamed. But it seems games usually go into a lot of detail about the story
No, video games are better forms of entertainment as a whole, but stories make games worse and games make stories worse.
Stories are best in cartoons/anime.
Just No, Video games are limited to console they are played on.
Your comment makes no sense and is irrelevant.
If you dont like my opioion then dont ask for it.
Proof of the uneducated right here.
