Video game composers feel like they just do something completely different, compared to movie and TV show composers. Clint Mansell, even though he has done films, his sound is unique and had some songs in Mass Effect 3.

Too many composers for movies and TV just about sound the same, and sound generic.

Pop artist music is basically churned out of a factory, and most of it is negligibly different, throwaway trash. Even in other music genres, country isn't much different, and just about every "new" artist on the alternative rock channel sounds like direct copycats of well known 90s and early 2000s bands.

Because a video game is supposed to be fun and sometimes relaxing. They put in music to fit in with the style of the game. 🙂
