Have you seen Concrete Cowboy or Old Henry or both?

I recently watched Concrete Cowboy on Netflix DVD and found it both tragic and inspiring, as well as educational. It is about black cowboys in urban Philadelphia in the 1990s. What? Who knew? And it's based on true life with some of the actual people playing rolls.
It is well made and totally believable. I liked it.

I just watched Old Henry on streaming. It's a western with outlaws, set in 1910 in the Oklahoma Territories and takes place on a Henry's homestead. I could imagine the lifestyle of those pioneers.
Nothing about it was implausible. No CG bullshit, stupid stunts, acrobatics or extravagant effects. The actors were really good. The characters and action were excellent. Nothing hokey.
I really enjoyed the action once it got started. I freaking love bad guys getting their asses killed. LOL The story line was good and the ending was a surprise.

I haven't really watched any westerns I think for the most part they're not my kind of tea. I did end up watching the trilogy from Clint Eastwood the good bad and the ugly and the other two. And while I did enjoy it, one scene in it has put me off watching other westerns.

I can watch people killing each other all day long and have watched loads of horror movies with deaths and tortures. But when it's a lot more realistic and brutal I really can't stand it, so watching someone get beaten up for 7 and a half minutes made me feel kinda sick to the stomach. And I've watched loads of action movies etc and have seen people being beat up countless times, but if I were to ever watch that movie again I'm skipping past that scene. And on that note I don't like watching shows like Holby city or one born every minute because it's too real.

haven't seen it. I’m not big on westerns. But a few that I enjoyed were Bad Girls, Gang of Roses, Cowboys and Aliens, Walker Texas Ranger (show), Back to the Future 3, Wild Wild West, Fievel Goes West, Mask of Zorro, Spirit, The Dark Tower, and Let Him Go. I still love Rawhide’s theme song. Idris Elba was great in Dark Tower so i’m sure Concrete Cowboy was interesting. He has other westerns like Hell on the Border and The Harder They Fall.

Old Henry isn't exactly a cowboy movie, either, even though it fits the basic genre just because of the time period and setting. I can't describe it without giving away the plot.

Cowboy movies can be entertaining, but few of them are realistic. This one is. And it's not full of gratuitous violence.

@exitseven years back i saw some of it with my grandpa. He also tried to make me watch Dances With Wolves which felt like the longest film ever. I fell asleep

I did not see those but my Mom is a big Clint Eastwood fan. I have seem them all from Hang Em High, Josey Whales, Pale Rider, Desperado etc to every which way but loose.
