For those of you who remember this show, do you find it sad that we weren't able to even MITIGATE or SOLVE the Global Weather Crisis? ! ?

This was an awesome TV show I distinctly remember watching. It was part of what made my childhood so great. Unfortunately, Captain Planet wasn't able to live up to his goals of fixing or preventing Climate Change or Environmental Destruction.

I remember they had Earth Day Celebration in the Quad yearly in the 90's. They also had TV shows on Nickelodeon about Earth Day stuff and the BIG change.

It was a good show and I loved it but the messages (especially about the state of our environment) was concerning to me as a child. I feel sad that these shows didn't really HELP with much climate things, at least I think it didn't.

i vaguely remember it because i didn't watch it. i knew it and something about the captain planet ring made everything alright but i don't know why. there was a lesson at the end, i do remember that.

The weather has been pretty stable in Florida. I can look at temperature patterns, average annual precipitation and general rainfall patterns, drought cycles, number of frosts per year, forest fires, hurricanes, sea level rise, air quality, etc. for the past hundred years or so and it's all pretty stable. It’s definitely not crisis worthy. We’re looking at very small fluctuations over very long time periods. If you looked at your local weather history rather than propaganda sensationalism on TV, you'd likely notice the same thing. Looking at the facts rather than infotainment fear monger channels would be the mature thing to do. In fact historically hurricanes have been way worse in Florida than they are today. The worst hurricanes by number of deaths in Florida history are the Okeechobee hurricane of 1928, the Labor Day hurricane of 1935, the Miami hurricane of 1926, and the Florida Keys hurricane of 1906. By wind speed they were the Labor Day hurricane of 1935, hurricane Andrew of 1992, hurricane Michael in 2018, and the unnamed hurricane of 1919. We’ve had some very light seasons in recent history. Improved building codes, new technology, and early warning systems make them so much easier to deal with and a much safer event to live through and while powerful we saw more powerful wind speeds more frequently before the rise of the industrial/post industrial age. Forests brush is better managed today, we have improved firefighting technology and methodology, and forests have been thinned and reduced in number so there are less forest fire problems. Air pollution in Florida is very low compared to all other high population states in the USA. Sea level rise over a hundred years has only been several inches. We get 2 or three frosts per year like usual.

There were more of a peak in cold weather in Florida during the space race due to the cooling effects of aerosols, airborne debris from failed man made satellites, rockets, and nuclear testing which all contributed to reflecting portions of sunlight away from Earth. The real environmental issues that are easily observable in my sate are habitat loss due to rapid development. Invasive species like the Asian citrus psyllid which is the driving vector behind citrus green. This is a result of Globalism and trade with China. Red tides which are causes by fluctuating ocean currents primarily and partially by wastewater nutrient runoff. Reef bleaching from bacterial issues likely driven by changes in pH and available water soluble nutrients. Increased sargassum nutrient concentrations and volume beached caused by nutrient runoff which I take advantage of and use to improve garden soil. Saltwater intrusion along coast lines due to over pumping of aquifers in more urban areas due to increase population density.

1. California (my home state) has had unbearable DROUGHTS for years (if not decades)! And according to my Geography class I took 2 years ago, deserts are expanding. How do you also explain extreme winters (that weren't this cold) 20 / 30 years ago? ! The tsunami of 2004, Hurricane Katrina of '05? ? ! I bet if you do any research, the average highs and lows of March 8, 2023, (the temperature gaps and ranges), aren't NEARLY as big as they are now!

4. If the Climate change/crisis is indeed false, then why were these shows even made? ! What were they trying to DO, and what was their agenda in getting even mere children to help with the planet's crisis and mitigating it's damage? ! It's not like children can do anything really! They are often more helpless than adults! They are like the weak, disabled or very elderly population! With that said though, I think what they were trying to do was influence the future so that's one answer to that, but still! The question was WHY? !

Hurricane Katrina wasn't even a bad hurricane it hit as a category 3. I personally go outside in category 3 hurricanes because they are no big deal. People deciding to live below sea level in a fucking bowl with poorly engineered dikes and horrible building codes is why hurricane Katrina effected people's lives. The city of New Orleans was and likely still is poorly governed.

You have to read their studies and examine their experimental methodology and data. That's what scientists do all the time. EV's, well they are SUPPOSED to be the cleaner alternative to gas and fossil fuels/diesel, etc. but some people are saying it's actually MORE bad for the environment because if you recycle the battery, it's going to pollute the environment, a lot more than gas/coal does.
