What's your opinion on the new Resident Evil 4 Remake video game?

Not really one for remakes, but I think this one holds up very well and may just surpass the original a little bit in terms of mechanics, further story depth and character portrayals.

The only thing that feels off for me is the new Ada. I liked the one from the original better from RE2, RE4 and RE6.

So far only played the demo, and I liked some changes from the original such as crouching and able to conserve ammo by sneak killing enemies.

So far it’s a solid remake. Haven’t beat it yet, just a little past where you save Ashly the first time. Enough references to the original that you can tell the developers knew the game. Little things like the egg in the oven in that one house. And a lot of the items are in the exact same place, at least early on. The lake boss fight was almost identical.

The gameplay has changed a bit, enemies are smarter and more aggressive when they get close to you. But the red 9 is still a beast. Ashly sucks a little bit less. Like she can’t die, so you don’t need to use health items on her. The interactions between the characters are more realistic. Like Ashly doesn’t trust Leon right away but pretty quickly realizes she has to. And Leon really doesn’t trust Luis. Haven’t gotten to Ada yet, at least not besides the scene where she shoots Heisenberg through the window.

The treasure has also changed a bit. Like there is a lot more of it, and the system of putting gems into socketed items is a little different. There are also like little side quests used to earn a different currency type that you use for items from the merchant he doesn’t sell for regular money.

All in all I am enjoying the crap out of it so far. And would probably continue to do so for the rest of the weekend if I could get away with it.
