People have done it here before for cheap rent. State wide there is no law against it, but some cities have started outlawing it.

The problem is, those that do it, often do it secretly and no one really knows they are there.

I would not ever do it, because I live in the country and storage units are in the city.

Mine is the biggest they had because I was planning on putting half of a 3 story house into it I doubt I even got half of that into it I would've needed at least one more like it. Without the 3 or 4 level rack in it, you could probably fit two cars into it. If you could stack them up, you could probably fit at least 4 cars.
At the moment, it's got 3 sets of drums, 5 synths, 6 or 7 guitars, 4 of my 5 basses, two Porta-Studios and lot of other recording gear, two sets of tabla, a few large garbage bags of clothes, two bikes, a good amount of DVD's and VHS tapes, at least 50,000 records, my stereo, about 10 computers and then I had to move all of the stuff from my aunt's storage unit into it so she wouldn't have to keep paying, too. Hers was a 6x6 and cost her $89 a month

I think so, as those lots aren't zoned for housing, but storage and commercial. Plus there's liabilities for the tenets and property that their insurance might not be willing or able to cover
