Why didn't Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) have to take "Chems" (Blues and Greens) Like "Aaron Jeremy Renner (Borne Legacy?

Jeremy Renner's character had to take Blue and Green 'chems" to keep his physical/mental agility until he 'viral-ed out.' Why didn't the Jason Bourne character have to take Chems?

BTY----I haven't had a Blue in 32 hours, I lost MY chems coming over the mountain. Need some help if there are any more of "us" on GAG...

I think Jason was previous gen and they introduced blues and greens later on for control and optimisation.
And because the script warranted it.

Thanks. I knew there had to be some 'reasoning" behind it but the "story line" did not describe it, and I wondered if that was not an error of omission on the part of the producers when they came up with the Bourne Legacy, All of the Bourne films are now on Netflix along with "legacy' and the differences of plot is 'glaring' because of the need for 'chems' in the Legacy film
