It has been pointed out to me that it was Emmy Lou Harris that had the hit record and not Linda Ronstadt. I think it was the guy on the radio that said that.

Linda Ronstadt is a great lady who recognizes the danger of the fascist, Donald J. Trump. But according to everybody on g@g, she didn't record this song. And Emmylou Harris also despises Trump with a burning passion: "Emmylou Harris, Steve Earle Plot Tour in Opposition to Trump Immigration Policy"

@supercutebutt yes you are correct. i heard this on the radio today and I thought the guy said it was Linda Ronstadt that sang this. I remember the song and forgot exactly who the artist was.

I know the song, but I don't remember Ronstadt doing it. If I heard her version I might remember it. I mostly know the original Van Zandt version, and the Willie and Merle cover.

I looked it up and I don't think Ronstadt did this song. You might be thinking of Emmylou Harris who covered it. Her version was fairly big. I saw her in concert, but I don't remember if she did this song.

Ronstadt sang it live with Emmylou, but I can't find a version that she recorded on her own.

I don't think Linda Ronstadt ever sang this song or if she did, it certainly wasn't a huge hit.

Must be the Billboard country charts! I've got the 1970 and the 1994 Billboard "Pop Annual" books right here behind me and they don't list, "Pancho & Lefty" or, "Lefty & Pancho".

Yeah, I would think so. I don't think Townes did much of anything in the `60's.
Okay, he did 3 albums in the late `60's. But, I didn't get the second one `til spring or summer of `70'
