Would you support this "actor" playing the role of Jesse Owens in his 1930's Olympics success. We don't have enough "caucasian, southern, redneck, males" in hollywood right now... they need work too.

The real Jesse Owens, in case you didn't know it was a highly acclaimed athelete in the 1930's that won Gold medals in Track and Field.

Don't ask why, it's for the purposes of "diversity" and "inclusion" to meet the appropriate standards and such. And they're cheaper to boot...

It's a movie about the great Jesse Owens for christ sake. He was African American.
It would be like making a movie about J. D. Rockefeller played by Denzel Washington.

How can you discount a historical figure's race? What kind of mind game are they playing?

I know, seems crazy to me. I don't see how some hillbilly could do justice. But that's hollywoods thinking these days I guess... diversity is important, and we know their ain't enough hillbilly characters.

Contrary to myth, Hitler actually treated him with respect. But when he came back to the U. S., he was still treated like a n***er. With a white guy playing the role, how are they going to portray the way he was treated at home in a racist, segregated society? Or are they going to "white"wash that?

As it is in hollywood, he goes to the USA, everyone in the USA is chinese... just as if white people never showed up and the Natives took over (who were basically chinese). other than a few white slaves they caught. It's a total twist of reality. That be a movie right there... I need funding!

Didn’t read the article.. but that man is a former woman.. the muscles and short arms.. just looks weird, sorry just being honest. A woman can never look exactly like a man. There is masculinity that cannot be duplicated no matter how science and medicine try.
If Owen was once a woman.. and a white girl and it relates. then I guess it’s fine.. but if not, maybe diversity is out of control. I wouldn’t watch it either way. I don’t watch sports at all.

You are seeing a woman? I'm not seeing that, but as noted, I don't know and I believe it's illegal to ask such questions in interviews.

It's one thing to change the race of a fictional character like Ariel in The Little Mermaid, but Jesse Owens is a real person who is black. It would be disrespectful, and wrong for a white actor to play him in a movie.

Yes, they are casting all kinds of black actors for roles that were previously played by white guys. The nerwoks are doing a remake of the Wonder Years with all black kids. Next you will see a remake of Seinfeld with a Black Jerry Seinfeld and a black Kramer.
