Why is there a growing number of people who like Vikings?

I have noticed this too. I also have noticed an increase in Viking TV shows. I think Viking shows provide good entertainment because they pursue exciting adventures and are a tough people. Maybe the image of the resilient, daring Viking leads to admiration.

They are definitely admirable, I guess my thing is they were so dirty. That’s probably silly since everyone was dirty to a point then.

Yeah, it’s funny how people romanticize the past without considering what quality of life would actually entail.

If you look at that period in history everyone is battling their neighbouring kingdom, Making and breaking alliances etc and it gets a bit confusing who's good or bad and who's actually who. But with the Vikings it's more clear cut, all the different types just get called 'Viking'. People like the simplicity of a foreign warrior coming to rape and pillage.
Also, you don't have worry about upsetting national sensitivities because the scandanvians and people in areas they settled tend to be proud their ancestors were Vikings.

They're the fathers of the Scandinavian community. That introduced all ways of nordic lifestyles. The first warrior caste of medieval Europe to explore the Atlantic seas and by far the first settles that discover Canada. Imagine that 😏

Fantasy Vikings are great. Strong brave and capable men and women, sailing the rough norther seas, etc. All good fun, as fantasy

In reality most of the vikings were looking for new land to settle so they could become farmers.
