The public schools in America (for the most part) have been ruined by the teachers' unions and leftist ideology. Part of that ideology leads to a lack of traditional standards for behavior ("we have to understand how Johnny is feeling when he assaults the teacher") and watered down academic standards. And the problems aren't due to lack of funding. More money is spent on public education per student than ever before.
@exitseven The teachers are off more than they are working it seems.
@daniela1982 I just saw on TV this morning that the teachers union wants to go to a four day work week. They cite a better quality of life for teachers as the reason. They work a part time job as it is and now want a 4 day week.
There is a town nearby that decided to lengthen the school day by 45 minutes. They had to pay the staff for the extra money but the school committee decided that it would be worth it. Within a year the standardized test scores went up and the graduation rate did as well. I expected this to become a trend but then Covid happened and screwed everything up.
More like 54 years years. I watched it on TV along with half the people on the planet. People all over the world got up to watch it no matter what time it was where they lived. I think it was mid-afternoon for me.

Our worn out, early 1950s B&W TV was a window to another world for a short time that day.
Thanks for posting the Louis Armstrong videos.
My favorite version of St. James Infirmary by Sir Joe Cocker came to mind:

I enjoy playing La Vie en Rose on tenor guitar.
Louis was really something, wasn't he?
Neil also. Buzz and Mike respectively, are and were no slouches, either.
Louis Armstrong
ahhh what a wonderful world lol
but knowing the type of trumpet he played is I think reserved for trumpeters and those loyal fans of Louis. I’m somewhat a fan but I never looked at the type he played or what color or if he used the same mouthpiece all his life lol
But... did he walk on the moon or just moon his fans?
And of course it was Louis Armstrong who walked on Mars. :D
Mankind is doomed.
And in space, no one can hear you scream!
Guess he didn't like that Mars candy bar.

Very funny!
I saw a question on a newspaper a few years ago, one of those daily quizzes they put on the comics page, that asked "Who was the first man to walk on the moon? and the answer they gave was Neil Diamond.
Good God, what dummy do they have working for the paper?
I hate to think what they dont teach you kids today.
The astronaut, the trumpet player or bike rider? Neil, Louis or Lance? Playboy playmate Rebekka Armstrong and actor RG Armstrong
You know them all. :) I remember RG from Major Dundee.
I remember him from the movie “The Car”
Probably a 3-stage, B-flat with an extra-large Bell.
Just like how many people could use a dial telephone!!
Lmao that's awesome.
Neil Armstrong? The astronaut?
The Bike Rider?
Bike rider. Wow, I thought everyone would get this. I think you were thinking of Lance Armstrong.
