In the past they've gone on strike so new and everyday writers could make a decent amount of money compared to what the productions take in.

This one is the ultra-wealthy writers at the top who are saying they're not making enough to get by, on millions and even tens of millions of dollars a year. The numbers are astronomical. then the actors and actresses piled on top of that for no reason that was needed other than to try to take more power away from the studios and force a settlement. all of this will end up hurting the new and everyday writers (and actors and actresses) they were previously trying to protect.

Meanwhile movies & TV are mostly crap nowadays (plus all the woke stuff they add on to that) and the audiences that usually get behind the strikes don't really care whether they settle or not this time. It's going to end with everyone involved paying themselves a lot more money and audiences still losing out.

I should care because they're not getting paid what they need, but at the same time they suck at their jobs and make really bland and crap movies. So... 🤷
