I've never thought it was that good to be honest. Thriller was a fun video but apart from that...

He seems to be admired by a lot of people though. I've had 2 friends who absolutely adored him to the point of obsession. There's a certain kind of celebrity that seems to garner obsessive followers. Elvis is another, Donald Trump yet another. I haven't looked into the psychology of it, but it must be related to mental health issues.

Michael Jackson seemed to always walk a tightrope between being popular and a weirdo. I had no issues with him growing up but never considered myself a fan and I found him a bit strange. When all that stuff about him sexually abusing young boys and paying their families off came out, I became very suspicious of him. He definitely isn't one of my favourite people.

Apart from Kurt Cobain, he is probably the most overrated male artist of all time. That is, if you can call him an artist. From what I have read he was pretty much a puppet with producers and his management pulling the strings.
