Is SHE really that POPULAR?

For those people who couldn't afford, or did not get, tickets for Taylor Swift's Eras Tour, don't worry. She has announced that a concert film of her Eras Tour will be released in movie theaters on Friday, October 13, 2023 and AMC opened up presale tickets soon after her announcement ($19.89 for adults ).

AMC plans to show the film at least 4 times a day (Thursday through Sunday of the initial run) at all of its US theaters, and upgraded its website and ticketing systems to process more than 5x the peak traffic it’s ever experienced, but that wasn't enough... the site crashed.

What do you think? Is Taylor Swift really that popular?

Yes. I like most of her old albums but i’ve never been big on her as a person. Same with rihanna and chris brown. Dont care for them as people but i like most of their music. Taylors albums from 2006-2014 (mainly Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989) were great. But the ones after like Reputation, Lover, Folklore, Evermore, and Midnights just aren't catchy in my opinion. I don’t like the sound switchup. Only one or two songs played on the radio from the newer albums have caught my attention. But the majority are jusr sucky (to me). I thought it was cringey in 2006 when she exaggerated her country accent for that first album. But the others sounded more authentic and less country. But this new stuff just ain't for me. Sounds like sleepy lullabies. Nothing fun about the songs in my opinion. But apparently she keeps winning best video awards so ig that part is good if nothing else. I don't know her music just hasn't appealed to me in the last 10 years but i’m not surprised that she has a lot of fans. I would throw a jab like “Shes no Beyonce” but even beyonces music has creeped me out for a while now. I really hate when artists switchup their sound longterm

I think she is a status symbol and attending her concert is like collecting an autograph or buying puma shoes, people go so they can post photos on social media and make themselves sound rich and elite and societally relevant and hip and up to date on social trends. It's no longer about the experience of enjoying music, but the status of saying you got access to a sold out concert that is very hard to buy tickets to.

Probably yeah. She has a good following and her concert tickets are selling for $2000 a piece at times, her music sells and she gets a lot of air time. Her music popularity has been growing and she's had a career of 20 years where's she's been selling n01 albums.

She's at the very pinnacle of her career at age 33 and of her pop/country career and probably reached as high as any music star has or ever will.

Personally I'm not a fan and have never or would never spend money on her music or a Taylor Swift movie. I would however smash her back door in and if I was around 20 years ago with money to invest I would have invested in Swift as she is a major cash cow who can do no wrong.

but yes... she is very popular

and, I do think that if they ever give her the Half-Time Super Bowl... it is most likely to be the most watched Super Bowl of all times (record still held by Katy Perry's 121 million)

Well, at my age I was never really a fan, and hearing her sing, either I'm tone deaf or she has a good press manager, because I don't see why she is so popular. I don't even recognize her singing when she does come on the radio. But that's my opinion.

I think her producers are doing good job in making money on her. Popularity nowadays is fake. If you have hundreds of millions $ , you can literally take a talentless, useless bum from a street and within a year create a superstar from him/her and monetize.

How can you even ask whether she's that popular? Even if you don't like her, if she's over-booking stadiums for multiple night shows everywhere she goes, she's in the top 10 highest earning singers, she's popular, and she has been for the past 20 years.

I've never heard a full song from her, only short clips on the news. Nothing I've heard from her is worth listening to in my opinion. I have no interest in seeing the movie even if it was free.

Yeah she’s pretty huge. My girlfriend loves her and I’m trying to find a way to get her good tickets which is proving to be impossible 😭
