What MOVIE do you hate the most?

Inspired by good ol' @AviatorTom. For me I got a couple:

Vivarium. Really hated that.

Minority Report. Was a little too grim and dystopic for me. The scene where Tom made the guy vomit with the taser was unexpectedly unsettling, and that whole mind prison was just morbid.

The new age Mad Max was pretty awful too.

And of course the epic failure that was The Last Jedi. An ugly stain on Star Wars.

It’s okay to walk out of movies if you don’t like them.

I remember walking out of Will Smith’s “Hitch” movie years ago. It started out okay but got worse and worse as it went on. Then when he chased down and literally. begged the female lead to come back to him towards (when she was literally physically with another guy) it made me literally run out of the move theater. Beyond cringeworthy.

The screenwriters put on the absolute worst example possible of what women say they want vs. what they really want in that film. Lots of male bashing. And the worst part of all is Will Smith’s character was supposed to know what women really want. Horrendous brainwashing for young men out there.

I remember seeing that when I was a kid after getting really bad advice from an old friend. My brother and I were looking at each other when it was done like “wtf are we doing here? We just wasted two hours of lives and 10 bucks on the movie tickets”.

I absolutely hate those "romance" movies that are basically just men bothering and stalking women who clearly say no and then they fall in love and live happily ever after.

Like Age of Adeline where when she first meets the guy and says no thanks and takes a taxi, he fucking sticks his hand in the taxi so she can't leave and makes a joke that like he sticks his hand where he shouldn't or doesn't take no for an answer. Or The Notebook where they go on a first date bc he literally threatens to kill himself.

I swear so many romance movies would clearly be scary movies if you just changed the soundtrack. Bc it's not romantic it's fucking gross and scary.

No lol. I wouldn't be married to a man if i thought all men were predators. I know men aren't all like that. That's why it's so frustrating to see it in movies and shit, bc it shouldn't be the standard. Men don't have to pressure and harass women to get a date, and they shouldn't settle for a woman who doesn't even want them. That's a disservice to young men to tell them nobody will want to be with you, so you have to pick someone and force them. It's just as damaging story to paint as "love" for young men watching as it is for young women watching. I just gave my opinion from my own perspective watching it, sorry if that seemed unbalanced.

Sadly it's also many women treating young men as if nobody will ever want to be with them either. I think this is what contributes to a lot of these guys' frustrations.

Yes. Young men and women could benefit a lot from seeing fictional/romance couples who both actually like each other and are respectful to each other. It would help a lot to set higher standard for irl relationships they pursue. Healthy relationship is possible. It should be expected. But it seems like it's not even commonly aspired for rn, which is really fucked up. Nobody should be led to a place where the best they dare to hope for is someone they have to force to love them.

I remember when I saw on an old TV show, when the woman slapped her husband and he immediately stopped and left, and she had to really apologize and do better about her temper before he came back to her. I'd seen people slapped by their spouses b4 in TV, but that was the first time it was taken seriously just bc it was disrespectful. The others I'd seen were either treated as bad only bc it was physically dangerous (if the husband did it) or as a joke like just funny cheeky disrespect (if the woman did it). Luckily i already had a strong foundation that hitting was NEVER okay in a relationship, but not everyone does. Media has a responsibility that if it shows unhealthy dangerous relationships, those should not be portrayed as romantic or aspirational.

Wow, I haven’t seen Minority Report in ages, even though I actually have the DVD. While I love Tom Cruise and the vast majority of his other movies, I have to say this one was more forgettable than anything else. It’s low on my list of favourite Spielberg films as well.

Anyways, I can’t stand any of the Marvel or DC movies. It feels like we are constantly bombarded with them and yet they’re just typical, cheesy blockbuster action films with zero substance to them. Yet people flock to the theatres for every single instalment.

I like the Avengers movies, and that's about it for me as far as Marvel goes. I'm a Superman lover but still feel like the struggle to get a decent Supe movie is an eternal struggle.

Hate might be too strong (disappointed might be closer):
Matrix Resurrection, all three SW Prequels, the late 80s to mid 90s Batmans. Even though in all cases, I more or less loved the casts.

I have love/hate feelings about Braveheart (not the quality of the film, but the severe inaccuracies in the story).

I heard Kingdom of Heaven was pretty bad. Matrix Resurrection was the WORST and didn't need to be made, the originals were already the best. I love the SW prequels so we'll have to part on that one lol. I also did love the 80s Batman movies but hated the new ones with Val Kilmer and George Clooney, yeah.

Liking/hating the prequels has got to be one of the more consistent Gen X v. Millennial differences.
Did you like/hate Solo? I meant to include it with the prequels (loved most of the cast, but didn’t like the film).
I really liked Keaton as Batman and Kilmer as Bruce Wayne. Clooney just gets a pass, but I didn’t like the films apart from the casts (much like the SW prequels).

Solo was decent, but I definitely wouldn't call it a great movie, and certainly not the best SW movie. I did like the cast too, yeah. Batman Forever was EGREGIOUS🤮

99.99% of sequels. The only sequels in history that were better than the originals were Terminator 2, The Godfather 2 and Paranormal Activity 3. Honorable mention The Anomatrix. If you can name another be my guest.

The Empire Strikes Back, and all the John Wick movies tend to be better than the ones prior to each other, Chapter 4 is the absolute best.
